Well, looks like we're walking," Eliza muttered sheepishly, Alex sighing with a nod.
They slipped out of the car while Peter called roadside assistance, beginning their walk, Alex struggling to spot John.
"Alex are you missing something?" Eliza frowned, examining his flustered state.
"Huh? N-no, no I don't miss anything," he spoke quickly, spinning around to face her with a forced smile.
"That's n-not what I meant-" she bit her lip. "I-"

Eliza was cut off when she suddenly shivered, John walking behind her poking his arm through her with a small snicker.
"Fuck off-" Alex huffed under his breath, waving his arm around behind Eliza, John pulling away and flying off in fear of Alex touching him.
"Excuse me?" Eliza frowned, stepping back a little.
"Not you! S-sorry! I was talking toooo the wind! God damn this night-time chill," he rolled his eyes playfully.
"Oh," was all Eliza could say, forcing a small laugh, in her head wondering how she hadn't noticed what a nut job Alex was at school.

She jumped a little in surprise feeling warmth around her shoulders, Alex lowering his jacket around her carefully. At least he was a nut job with manners.
"Thank you," she smiled shyly with a blush.
"The least I could do, I'm not quite myself this afternoon, you'll have to excuse me," he sighed sheepishly. Eliza nodded silently, creating meaningless small talk until they arrived at the restaurant, Alex staying on his toes awaiting John's next strike.

A waiter lead them to their table, Alex pulling out Eliza's seat for her before moving to take his own, bending down to sit down, but his chair was pulled out behind him- though nobody was there, and he fell to the floor with a yelp.
"Oh my gosh are you okay?" Eliza gasped, rushing to help him up.
"Fine! I'm fine, thank you," he spoke quickly, getting back into his seat with flushed cheeks, fuming at John. For the rest of their dinner he couldn't focus, everything Eliza said went in one ear and came out the other. When their food arrived he barely ate, picking at the spaghetti sheepishly, simply twirling it on his fork rhythmically. John sat at a table behind Alex, watching him with a small frown. This wasn't much fun. Alex was in such a shit mood that nothing he could think of would earn a good reaction.

Eliza watched him pitifully, this wasn't the Alex she knew, and it not only worried her, but it scared her.
"Is everything okay Alexander? Ever since that boy at school was in the car accident, you've been acting awfully strange- did you know him?" She asked quietly.

Alex's head shot up, his eyes wide and cautious.
"No." he spoke quickly.

Behind him, John listened in, feeling a pang of pain stab at his chest.

"Are you sure?" Eliza pushed, leaning forward a little, her brows knitted and voice low.

"That kid's death was maybe the most meaningless thing to have happened okay Eliza. He was a nobody. I didn't know him, and I don't care about him. That's fi-"
Alex was cut off as John dumped his plate of spaghetti over his head, sparkling tears streaming down his cheeks, his rattling breathing heavy and ragged.

Eliza gasped, shooting up from her seat and backing away in shock, all eyes on Alex now, who sat silently, letting the plate slide off his head and to the floor, along with most of the spaghetti.

"Fuck you!" John screamed, crying heavily now, light bulbs popping here and there above them, small sections of the restaurant being bathed in darkness.
"A-Alex!" Eliza stammered fearfully, backing away cautiously, her hands shaking as people began fleeing the building.

"I was a nobody?" John cried, the large mirror on the wall smashing without any impact.
Alex sat, slowly wiping the spaghetti sauce away from his eyes and glaring at John. "You don't get to glare at me! You broke my heart first! So FUCK YOU!" He sobbed, his hands slowly fading from blue to white. Alex noticed and his eyes widened a little.
"John your-"
"SHUT UP!"

"Did you just say John?" Eliza frowned from where she had backed away. "Alex! I knew it! What are you not telling me?"
"Nothing." Alex huffed, standing up.
"Go on! Tell her last night you had an affair with the ghost of that dead kid from school! She has to believe that!" John yelled.

"Why are you so mad at me?" Alex snapped, turning to John with a hostile posture. "You're the one who left after I spilled my guts to you!" He snapped.
"Because you lied!" John cried out, throwing his hands up. "You lied you lied you lied!"

"How do you know I fucking lied?" Alex squinted, not liking being told about his own emotions one bit.
"Because if you told the damn truth- I wouldn't be here anymore."
