Sigh... let's take a kindergarten refresher on our 'P's and 'Q's people.
JUST KIDDING!
Here I will be mixing in a bit of Wattpad etiquette that is not included in the original code of conduct for the benefit of the new Wattpaders. Oh! Welcome to Wattpad by the way! :)
1) Be Generous
Don't hold back when you see books that you really love. When you see one, shower it with love, votes and when someone compliments you, be so kind as to leave a very sweet message either by private message or on their message board for them.
Remember, life is an echo, what you throw out there will come back to you. Very much like karma.
I have been told that I tend to forget about gender differences and have already declared my undying eternal adoration and love for almost half of the female Wattpad population here. [2017 is ending but I am still brooke and very much a bachelorrrr. XP]
But it is a compliment because when they leave such message, you are seeing yourself from their perspective and this is key to your path to fame. Honestly, no one would want to talk to people who takes and takes but give nothing back. If you want an analogy, look at the Dead Sea and the Red Sea.
The Dead Sea takes and takes even more seawater so much so that overtime, it is more salty than me when my father touches my chocolates. However, look at the Red Sea, it is teeming with LIFE and why is this so? Cos it gives and take and before I start going off topic, I better shut up.
So anyway, I am back on tracks. Those famous authors you see here on Wattpad often leave little notes to their readers to ESTABLISH a bond between them. They respond when their readers show love and that is how they convert readers to fans that keep coming back for more. You don't need a whole speech of gratitude and all to thank someone. Just look at TabbyMax for example.
Next thing, I have seen people who are incredibly stingy about their chapters. This could manifest itself in the form of "The next chapter will be uploaded once this chapter reaches 100 votes."
Well... I hate to say this but newsflash, Wattpad have like gazillions of books out there peeps, if you keep making such demands, the chances of people losing interest in your books is significantly higher. Especially if you are new.
A nicer way to word it is to perhaps say that the next chapter will be uploaded next week but if they want to read it earlier, [set criteria].
2) Give Constructive/Supportive Feedback.
Now, building on what I have said above, we are all here because we write. What we fail to ask ourselves or look at is WHY do we write here?
Because Wattpad is literally an empire of readers and authors. It has so many readers that you could easily carve yourself a place here on Wattpad to fit in and it is very possible to kick start your career here.
For me, I write here because Wattpad provides a conducive environment for authors to DISCOVER their strength and explore their genres. I have received many feedback and these feedback have served to help me improve the way I write and how I see my own writing. And of course by that I am saying only CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK.
I will have to disagree with all that i have said if the comment that was supposedly "constructive" goes like this: IMMA GONNA BURN THAT ***** ************ ****** You LIL **************. [Speakers burst from excessive censor screeching]
People, please look up the definition of constructive and supportive. Google has make it so much more easier. In case you need the root words, it is: Construct and Support. We ain't no need more flaming just to make Wattpad a cheerful place. We need feedback to improve not to demoralise us in which case, it is not even a feedback at all.
