Nigella

"Nathan?" My voice quivers as I call my brother's name. When I don't get anything for an answer I slowly drag myself out of the couch and start walking in the darkness. I stumble through the room and finally make it through the darkness.

"Nate?"

Nothing.

"Nathan, you alright?"

Again, nothing.

"Love, you're scaring me"

Groan.

My eyes widen as I hear him groan in pain. My feet carry me downstairs. Suddenly the power comes back, lighting up the whole house. Nathan lies on the floor covered by his blood with a bullet hole in his stomach.

"Help" He chokes out.

"Oh my gosh" I cry out. I run and kneel down beside him. "Nate, I need you to keep your eyes open, yeah? Don't you bloody close your eyes, I'm calling the cops"

I quickly bring myself to my feet and stumble across the room to find my phone. I call 999 and put the phone up to my ears.

"Hello, 999. What's your emergency?" The operator speaks.

"H-hello? My brother was shot" I sob. "Please send help"

"Ma'am can you tell me, what happened exactly?"

"I don't have time to explain, damnit! My brother's bleeding to death. I'd drive him to the hospital myself, but both of our cars are at the workshop" I explain.

"Are you alone at the house?"

"Yes. Please be quick"

"Okay, love. Calm down, take deep breaths okay? The ambulance and the cops are on their way"

"Okay" I sniffle and wipe eyes. I walk up to Nathan's body lying on the floor. Sounds of pain leave his mouth, breaking my heart. I've lost almost everyone in my family, and I can't bear to lose another one. I sit down beside him and put his head on my lap.

"Stay on the phone with me, alright?" The operator instructs. "What's your name, love?"

"Nigella" I croak out.

"Alright, sweetheart. Don't worry the ambulance is on it's way"

"Okay"

Soon I'm interrupted by a doorbell. I carefully put Nate's head on the floor and quickly run to open the door. The cops and the medical services come running in. They take him inside the ambulance, me trailing behind them.

"And did you see anyone?" The police officer asks me.

"No, officer" I shake my head. "I just saw my brother lying on the floor, wounded and that's it"

"Alright, thank you Ms. Winchester" He nods. "We'll inform you if we find any information"

I nod and put my head in my hands. I sigh and lean against the hospital chair in the hallway. Nathan is currently in surgery. They are removing the bullet from his stomach. It'll take time. I stare at the blank wall in front of me, thinking about the possibilities of the surgery going wrong.

"Nigella?" A voice snaps me out of my trance. I turn my head to see Harry staring at me, with a concerned look on his face. "What are you doing here?"

"My brother is in surgery. He got shot" I state.

"What, how?" He frowns and takes a seat beside me.

"We were about to watch a movie when suddenly the lights went out. We heard a noise from downstairs and Nathan, my brother went to check. The next thing I knew that he was shot. I quickly called the cops and came here at the hospital" I explain.

"I'm so sorry" He apologizes.

"Don't apologize, Harry. It's not your fault" I shake my head.

"Where are you parents? Do they know about this?"

My body tenses when Harry mentions my parents. I close my eyes and remind myself not to think about that day.

Don't think about it, Nigella. You'll be fine.

"M-my parents died a few years ago" I say in a shaky.

"I didn't mean t-"

"Harry, it's alright" I choke out. "I don't want to lose another family member. If I lose Nate, I'll have no one. I lost my Mum, Dad, my two little twin brother and sister. I can't bear losing another one of my loved one. I want Nathan to be okay"

Harry pulls me into a tight hug and rubs my back. "Shh, don't cry. You're a very strong girl, love. You can't be weak for your brother. He needs you and if you act weak it'll break him more. Don't cry"

I look up to see doctors walking out of the operation theatre in which Nathan's surgery is going on.

"Doctor!" I call and stand up. "How's he?"

"The surgery was successful but he's still in a critical condition" The doctor informs.

"Can I see him?" I stammer.

"Unfortunately, no. You cannot. I think the best thing you should do is go home and take some rest. Come back tomorrow, and hopefully you'll get to meet your brother" He nods and rubs the top of my head. "Don't worry, dear. Everything will be fine"

"Do you need a ride home?" Harry asks. I turn around to face him and nod. "Alright, I'll give you a ride. Come with me"

I stay silent and slowly follow him.

"Ms. Winchester!" A voice calls. It's the police officer. "You can't go back to your house. It's currently under investigation. You might have to find somewhere else to stay. We can book you a hotel room, if you want"

"She'll stay with me" Harry pipes in. My eyes widen for a second before I calm down.

"Is that okay with you, Ms. Winchester?"

"Yeah" I say. I guess.

"Alright, have a nice day" He nods before walking away. Harry grabs my hand, gently and leads me out of the hospital. We make our way to his car. I turn to him and smile thankfully at him.

"Thank you for doing this, Harry"

"You're welcome, Nigella. And remember, you're not alone. I'll always be here, if you'd want me to"
