Jiraiya was about to leave when a silver-haired boy come to Jiraiya. He looked at Jiraiya and questioned in a monotone, "Why are we here?"
"Why do you have no patience? How did Minato handle you?"Jiraiya said. "Look at what I am doing carefully, and remember that whatever you see at the other side, you have to protect it with your life. Promise me."
"Yes, okay, I will do as you say," the silver-haired boy said.
Jiraiya showed the silver-haired boy how to open the seal and close it.
"You cannot show this place to anyone. It is a secret and so is whatever is inside it. I trust you with this secret." Jiraiya said.
The beautiful thing about this jutsu is that I can see everything on the outside of this hidden village as we call it. But it is only this one house that is under the jutsu. No one can see what is inside unless you know how to open the door to it. And if anyone other than the people who are linked to it tries to open it they will die. Minato and Jiraiya had done an excellent job creating this jutsu.
The silver-haired boy enters the secret place. His face covered just showing only his right eye. Weird boy.... He did not smile. I opened the door to invite them inside. Without a hello, he just followed Jiraiya inside. Jiraiya got himself comfortable in the kitchen searching for something to eat, while this boy just stood there.
"Jiraiya, who is he? And why is he here?" I asked Jiraiya while asking the boy to sit on the sofa.
With his mouth full of pancakes and jam, Jiraiya tells me that he will be visiting me when he was gone.
"Be a good boy and introduce yourself Kakashi," Jiraiya said.
"Kakashi Hatake of the Hidden Leaf Village," he introduced himself.
"Erika, of the I have no idea what to call this place," I introduce myself smiling.
He just nodded and sat on the sofa. "Your house is a bit different compared to the houses in our village"
"Yes, Minato and Jiraiya constructed it the way I wanted it to be, I said.
"Isn't it too huge for just one person?" he asked.
"Oh no, it isn't. We have made this house and the surrounding according to the training that we do here. And it had to be huge because Minato and I used to stay the nights here. Erika cooks better than Kushina so I used to be here a lot. And she helps me a lot with my novels. She has knowledge of the human anatomy better than Tsunade" Jiraiya said.
Coming into the living room, Jiraiya asked me to sit beside Kakashi.
"Kakashi, I will be going out on missions and there will be no one here to protect and train Erika. So I leave the responsibility of Erika's safety to you. You will be spending most of your time training her and protecting her. Is that clear?" Jiraiya informed Kakashi.
"Why is she so important?" Kakashi asked.
"Just do as I say, this is your most important mission," Jiraiya told Kakashi.
"Why is she so important? She isn't rich or owns something powerful....?" Kakashi said questioning himself at the end.
"Can you please tell me who she is...?" Kakashi asked Jiraiya.
"That is not my place to say anything. I trust you with her life. Please take care of her when I am gone on missions. Don't let anyone know she even exists." Jiraiya said.
"I will tell you the truth about me when the time is right, Kakashi. I promise," I promised him. I felt that I should tell him everything. But looking at Kakashi, I felt that we should try to know each other first.
"Okay kids, I have got to leave right now. I have to be on my mission. See you kids in three months," Jiraiya said. "And Erika, can I get a to-go lunch before I leave."
"Sure, let me pack your lunch," I said taking out the chops from the mud-oven.
"You hid the lambchops....!" Jiraiya screamed.
"No.... I was just letting them cook properly. Anyway, I will pack more than you can eat, so please do not fret." I replied.
I packed Jiraiya his lunch and put in a nice piece of cake so that he has something sweet to eat.
"Who have you lost?" I ask Kakashi. But he gives me a look. "Okay, don't share it with me, but at least have lunch."
I walk to the kitchen and he follows me. His aura is very dark, which means that he has lost someone close to him.
"I know you have lost people dear to you, but let me tell you one thing that my father told me. It is good that we think about the ones we have lost, but it is better we be what the ones we lost want us to be. I know you have lost a lot of loved ones, so have I. It is no use fretting over their loss. The rest is up to you." I said to him and got back to having my lunch.
It seemed like he looked surprised for a moment but went to his usual self.
"We start practice in 15 minutes after lunch," he informed me.
The practice was way different than when Minato and Jiraiya trained me. He did not spare me. I was attacked fiercely and had to protect myself.
This went on for years, yet Kakashi never opened up to me. When he was away, I would read books. I had many, a roomful to be exact. And Kakashi would get me books when he would come back from missions. We never spoke to each other, just trained as hard as possible. Jiraiya had taught me to hide as much chakra as possible and I had mastered to hide it all. But, he even asked me not to use any of my chakra. Kakashi and I would train every day that he was in the village and not on missions. And I was always defeated by him. He was always disappointed whenever we fought. He would always tell me to work hard. Jiraiya used to come and visit us, as often as he could. But as an aspiring writer, he had to wander from place to place. But he would always visit me.
Kakashi, on the other hand, hated me...
