Opening Up

Chapter 5

Becky POV
It was about 2:30 in the morning and Dawn and I couldn't sleep. Soon someone wheeled in a little girl with a prosthetic leg and a mask on her mouth. She sat next to us. It looked like she had been crying too. The nurse looked at us and said something, something very interesting,
"This is Jessie Madson's daughter Rose. She was brought in from the nursing room." Then the nurse left. Dawn and I turned to her and looked her up and down.
"Hi. We work with your momma. She never told us that she had a daughter." Dawn said. The girl looked at Dawn and removed her mask.
"Hi. I actually live with my moms brother because she can't take care of me. She gave me up but my uncle wanted me. His wife was so terrible and she left. She took their daughter Emily with her. So he took me." The girl says. She then puts her mask on her face and doesn't talk again. We all just sit there. Waiting. When the clock struck 3:30 I asked a question.
"Where is your dad?" She looked down at her phone and then pulled down her mask and responded.
"He is in the labor room. He is a gynecologist. A women came in and was having her baby. So they put me with a nurse and brought me here. My dads name is Jim. Jim Pomatter."
I turned my head and looked right at Dawn. We exchanged glances and then we were silent for a long time.

Jenna's POV
I woke up to bright lights. I looked around and felt all woozy. Jim was standing over me.
"Jessie. I brought Rose with me. She is waiting outside. What happened?" He looked so concerned. But I didn't remember what happened.
"I don't know..." my words all slurred together. I sounded really drunk. Jim called in a doctor and left the room. Soon the doctor came in and told me that I was on really strong pain killers that were making me act all woozy. Then he sent in Dawn and Becky.
"Jessie. We have been worried sick!" Dawn says grabbing my arm. She had dark bags under her eyes. It looked like she hadn't slept in weeks.
"Where's Jenna and Lulu?" I asked. My words, yet again, slurring together. They both looked at me confused but then Becky spoke up and said, "They didn't come with us. They dated at the diner. I can call her and bring her over here for you." I nodded my head yes and Jenna was coming to me. I could tell her how I really felt.

Jenna's POV
I woke up to my alarm clock. I then woke up Lulu, showered, got dressed, and started to cook breakfast. Lulu came downstairs, still looking very mad at me. We both ate our food in silence until I got a text from Becky, Jessie is up from surgery. She wants u. Wanna come? I'll take Lulu and go to work. I quickly replied, Sure. Wait there. I'll bring Lulu so she can see Jessie.
"Lulu, Jessie is awake from surgery and she wants to see us. Do you want to go to the hospital?" I said. She started to grow a ginormous smile on her face. She nodded her head yes and we jumped in the car.

---------30 Minutes Later----------
Jenna's POV
We arrived at the hospital and headed to he front desk. I asked for Jessie Madson and she sent me to room 735. Lulu started to pull me down the hallway and into the room. I knocked on the door only to see Doctor Pomatter in the room. He came to the door and opened it. I tried not to look at him and just forced myself into the room.
"Jim. You can go now. Tell Emily I love her." Her words were all slurred. But even in a hospital bed she still looked gorgeous.
"Hey Jessie." I said trying to sound rude. I guess Lulu noticed and pulled on my hand.
"JESSIE! Your okay!" Lulu said while jumping on to Jessie's bed and sitting down next to her. Jessie gave her a tight hug and whispered in her ear. Lulu then got of the bed and walked into the waiting room.
"Why did you do that?" I said walking closer to her.
"Because I need to tell you something." She said.
"I need to tell you something to. You go first." I said.
"Well..." Jessie started. But she didn't get that far because as soon as she opened her mouth I did what I had wanted to do for a long time. Kiss her.
