“A-suka!” Hyousuke choked. “Ares—what have you done?”
“She’s a spy!”
“What? Where’s your proof?” Hyousuke asked in disbelief.
Ares scoffed, “I knew you were in love with her. That’s how she was able to get information—because you were so smitten with her.”
“You misunderst—”
“I only killed her because…” Ares hesitated.
“Because what?”
“Because I love you, Hyousuke!”
Tears ran over the blood on Ares’ sincere face. His face contorted in pain as he ran out of the tent. He was drowning in his guilt and his embarrassment. Hyousuke hurried after Ares, but he’d lost sight of him. At the nearby river to where Ares ran, the scroll fell out of his pocket.
I forgot to give this to him, Ares thought. He opened the scroll. It was a map containing the location of the enemy camp.

The next morning, Hyousuke’s army set out for the enemy camp. However, when they got there, only corpses remained. In the middle of the enemy camp was Ares, standing and looking at the grey sky.
“Ares!” Hyousuke exclaimed, dismounting his horse.
“Hyousuke…” Ares gazed at him blankly before fainting.
Hyousuke hoisted him up the horse and said, “It was Ares who defeated our enemies! Let us go back to our camp and celebrate!” The army roared in joy.
He cradled Ares in his arms as they rode back to their camp.
