Jason Point Of View

I stared at the moving flames of the blazing fire. I looked up at the now dark sky. The stars were shining brightly. And the moon who was in her full face looked like a ball of light trying to fight the darkness.
I sighed. Looking back to the fire. We decided to make a provisional camp until we find the exit to this damned forest.

I got up from the grass where I was sitting up. I stretched myself. I looked at the grayish tent where Kiara was resting as Inés watched over and took care of her. I felt my worry start to build up again. They are two of the most important persons in my life after all. I shook my head I went ahead and gently tapped on the tent to check on them.

A soft, Come in, made it's way to my ears. I smiled softly recognizing Inés's voice. I carefully opened the tent. I grimaced as I saw Kiara laying in a blanket, parts of her were covered in bandages and some of them were scarlet red, Inés was putting a towel soaked in cool water in her forehead she was probably in fever. I heard her groan.

"How is she doing?" she exhaled, finally letting me see how tired she actually is "She is gonna be fine, but we really have to think about who it's in the shadows, you know?" I nodded in understanding. "What kind of animal did this, a wolf or maybe a bear?" Inés froze midway re-soaking the towel, she looked at my eyes, hers now dark, there was something in her eyes but I couldn't dwell on it much because it disappeared as fast as it came.

"It wasn't an animal" she whispered slowly, as she passed the towel in Kiara's cheek "This cut was done with a knife" as she traced the deep cut that was sure to become a scar. I gulped as I realized what was she trying to say. "It was a person, right?" she reluctantly looked back at my face. Her eyes were blank, I realized she was hiding her emotions, a part of me felt hurt that she didn't trust me enough, to show me what is she feeling, but a more rational part of my brain countered that with all of the things happening it was normal for her to bring her walls up again, it was just so familiar for her.

"Yes, it had to be a person the cuts were so precise, they weren't meant to kill her, they were meant to hurt her enough for something that I have no idea what it is" she looked back at Kiara playing softly with her hair "I feel that this was a warning, and whoever they are, They are coming for us" she looked back at me. I felt shivers run down my body. "They already have drawn blood, they just declared war on us, didn't they?" I demanded as I nodded to Kiara's unconscious body.

"Yes, they have and it looks like now it's our turn to make a move" she said slowly. I felt fear and rage cursing down my body like electricity. "Do you think it was the same person?" she looked at me asking me to elaborate, I sighed "Mark and Kiara, do you think it was the same person, and somehow it managed to get insides Mark's head?" I was praying with every inch of my body for her to tell me no, that it was only a consequence, such naive thoughts. She hesitated. "As much as I hate the thought, yes it's really probable that in fact is the same person or on the same team, you know?" I groaned "Are we gonna be able to get out of here?" She stopped playing with Kiara's hair, she looked directly into my eyes "I don't know" she whispered.

I opened my mouth to respond, but I closed as I saw Kiara starting to stir. All of Inés's attention focused on Kiara. I took that as my cue to leave. As I made my way out to the exit, I looked back one last time to meet red-brown eyes, but I was surprised to meet teal eyes. I nodded nervously at her as I run my hand through my hazel hair. I exited the tent. I looked for a moment in the dark forest, we 'll have to find the asylum, I felt that there we will have our answers.

I shook my head I still have to manage to cook some kind of food since Kiara is wounded and Inés won't leave her side, jealousy cursed through my veins and my green eyes darkened, I growled. I shook my head again "keep it inside" I whispered to myself "There is no use to fight". I concentrated on the task at hand, food.

Two hours later.

Jason's Point of View

"Guys food is ready" I cringed a little at the all so familiar line, I realized we didn't know how many hours we been here, our families are probably worrying sick for us, we had to get out of here but with Kiara and Mark in their current states it's gonna be so damn difficult. I shook my self out of my thoughts as I saw Kiara limping to me, Inés trailing behind. I chuckled to myself typical of Kiara, she is just too stubborn for her own good.

"What are we gonna eat?" she asked as she tried to sit in the grass "Food" I said dryly, Inés glared at me "Really I thought we were going to eat air" Kiara retorted a smile on her face "Oh you will if you keep that up" she playfully punched my arm, as Inés rolled her eyes and sited. "Idiots" she whispered. 2 minutes after Mark and Kayla decided to grace us with their presence, and finally Lira came with the dogs she went out to scout a little.

"We are eating some tuna with crackers that I had on my backpack and if we still are hungry some granola bars, with water to drink or as Kiara here suggested air" I said. They all snickered and nodded. And we started eating. Laika and Kai made their way to Inés and Kiara and snuggled closer to them. Inés took out from her pocket some dog treats for them and gave Laika and Kai half of her tuna, after stopping Kiara midway giving hers saying she needed the food to repair her forces. Inés always had a kind heart especially when it came to dogs and other animals. I smiled softly at her, she returned it as she went back to her conversation with Kiara. My eyes darkened as I felt my jealousy return. "Stop it" I growled at myself, trying to control it. To distract myself I initiated a conversation with Mark, as I felt Lira's pale blue eyes staring at me.

The poor kids are alone in this forest. Time frozen, lives stopped and powerful forces awakened.
Who knows what the fates had woven for these poor kids, who held past lives in their veins and monsters to be awakened.
