The train ride from Busan to Gyeonggi-do took three hours. Yeonjun was in a black coat, not wearing a bandana, looking outside at the greenery and snow in silence.
He finally reached and picked his bag up, walking off the train. He walked out of the train station. He got a taxi and took it to where he needed to go. He reached the place, and then saw a familiar old woman selling flowers and tea outside.
This was already nice, Yeonjun thought. He really needed someone to talk to, and the two of them were the first ones that came into his mind.
"Grandma!" Yeonjun shouted in excitement, running towards the old woman.
The old woman turned around and saw the boy running towards her, she immediately opened her arms, and then Yeonjun gladly accepted it.
"Oh, little boy!" The woman answered, pulling away from the hug, "It has been months, Dan. How are you?" The woman asked, excited to see the kid again.
"You know that I'm not fine, that's why I'm here." Yeonjun answered shyly, which made the woman smiled a little.
"Come on, what do you want? Purple lilies or roses? Tea or coffee?" The woman asked.
"Old ways, Ms. Lee." Yeonjun said, and the woman nodded.
Ms. Lee grabbed a bouquet of purple lilies and two cups of green tea. She handed it out to Yeonjun, who was looking down.
"Do you want to talk it out? You always talk your problems with m—"
"I like someone." Yeonjun blurted, and then gave her a weak smile.
"That's good! Does it go bad? Or do you want dating tips? She must be really lucky to have you." The woman chuckled.
"He's a boy, and I kinda doubt that." Yeonjun said.
"A boy? Is it.... Justin?"
"No. I haven't met him for years and his family might beat me up if they ever see me again." Yeonjun chuckled a little.
Ms. Lee nodded, "Kid, come on. Tell me now. What's the problem? I mean, the new boy?"
"D-Dad. Dad saw him. He went to my school just to slap me across the face and punch me in my stomach. The school head emailed my dad about my bad doings, grades and well, a-activities—" Yeonjun started.
"And that boy was included in your email?" The woman interrupted, already knowing the situation, and then Yeonjun nodded.
"It's not your fault, Daniel."
"It is."
"It is not." The woman said strongly, looking at the boy, "If you hurt him, then it's your fault. But I know you didn't. I know you more than you know yourself. If I don't care or trust you, you're not here anymore."
Yeonjun looked down again, but then Ms. Lee grabbed both of his hands and hold it.
"Daniel, I've known you since you were a kid. You were like my son. I know you're a good kid, I know that. If you changed into someone you despised, then you're being a hypocrite. Daniel, you are growing up. You should stop those negative thoughts from getting the best of you." Ms. Lee said softly.
