Hey, guys! Sorry about the hiatus, but I have some ideas (if you want to vote go to my conversations and it should be the latest post from me). Anyway, I've been wanting to do this story for FOREVER so I thought I'd finish and post this while I catch some other stories up. Hope you enjoy!

The blue eyed teen sprinted through the village up to the castle courtyard. He fumbled to tighten his hurriedly assembled armor, the bow and quiver over his shoulders banged on his back and made the sprinting rather awkward.

This was the day.

Today, he would accompany his hero, his role model, the greatest knight in history, Sir Shiro. They were to go on his quest to defeat a dragon and save princess Allura.

Sir Shiro was the best knight in all of Altea, and in high favor on King Alfor. He accomplished many heroic and impossible deeds.

Lance's favorite and Shiro's most recent victory, was summoning the Weapons of Voltron, jeweled weaponry that the royal sorcerer Pidge believes to have mystical and magical abilities.

Lance's best friend, Hunk, was to accompany them too, known for his incredible cooking skills as he apprenticed under the royal chef, as well as his strength.

Lance would be the only one who wasn't a member or servant of the royal court.

He sprinted through the castle's courtyard down to the docks. They were going to have to sail to the Dragon's Isle.

Poor Hunk... Lance thought as he slid to a stop. Hunk was also known for his gastrointestinal issues too.

Lance stopped, an inch from smacking into the king himself. He quickly bowed to King Alfor.

The king greeted him with a smile. "Ah, the archer--, um, what's your name again?"

"Lance McClain, sir," Lance replied. "But everyone calls me Lance."

"Yes, Lance, should anything happen, I'd like for you to protect Sir Shiro, with your life, if necessary. He is the strongest warrior in our kingdom."

"O--Of course," Lance stammered with a smile. Why did he have the feeling that the king didn't care if Lance came back, as long as Shiro did?

"Alright," Shiro called aboard the rocking ship with Hunk. Hunk was already turning a sickly color and leaning over the rail as the ship rocked in place at the port.

Shiro strolled onto the dock over to the king. "We should be good to go--" Shiro then spotted Lance behind the king. "Oh your Lance, right? Good to have you--"

"WAIT!" A voice shrieked as the royal sorcerer Pidge jogged up the dock, which was kind of difficult in her robes.

She ran up to the knight, gasping for air for a second before she could finally speak.

"I-- I've been researching weaknesses for the dragon, and my brother and I created this magic gauntlet that should help Shiro vanquish the beast--"

"Hold on, 'vanquish'? Like kill it? Do we really have to--?" King Alfor's darkening gaze cut Lance short as Pidge handed Shiro the glove. He slipped it on, and the hand glowed a bright purple color.

"My daughter was taken by that monster," Alfor almost growled. Lance backed away a step, the wood groaning under his feet. "The beast will pay, and if you don't seem to be committed, Lance, I will find a replacement."

"That won't be necessary, Your Highness," Lance replied, backing down and helping Hunk load a few more supplies as Shiro said the final goodbyes.

The docks soon faded in the distance as the ship slowly drifted away.
