Keith stumbled in before dawn with a yawn, ready to wake his servant to start the day. Instead, he saw the Latino, shivering, curled tightly in a ball and wrapped in his cloak.

Even the fire pit held no glowing embers or had any trace of heat. Keith crept up to the pit, and crouched down.

With a quick breath, a small stream of fire reignited the remains of last night's blaze. Keith then stepped over to the human, and took on his dragon form.

Carefully, he maneuvered himself around the Latino, laying his warm body against Lance, wings wrapped around them to pocket the warm air inside.

Lance's shivering subsided as he nestled closer into the dragon's belly, Keith's internal fire radiating a calming warmth within Lance's shelter.

Eventually, sleepy blue eyes opened ever so slightly, and stared at the purple and red scales sparkling around him thanks to the sunlight beginning to filter into the cave.

They reminded Lance of his home that he dreamed about, as if he was watching the sunrise back in Altea. Keith's rhythmic breathing beside him, and yellow eyes watching him, reminded Lance of his situation.

"G—Good morning," Lance muttered, quickly rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Keith unraveled his wings, and the cool morning chill blasted Lance as Keith shrank to his bandaged human form.

Lance spotted the fire burning once more, knowing full well that it had not remained ignited throughout the night.

"Why did you...?"

"You looked cold," Keith shrugged and quickly turned away. "Now come on, if you're stuck here, you work here."

Lance sighed with a grown as he followed Keith into their new home.

The two set to work, hauling water back and forth from the natural spring deep within the cave.

Then Keith climbed up to the flat top of the island, carrying Lance in his claws before they picked some of the herbs and vegetables there, Keith explaining which plants were poisonous and had to be boiled before they were eaten.

Then, Keith retreated to his quarters to rest. Lance stayed in the main entry cave.

"Stay in here," Keith ordered. "And don't go near the South Chamber."

"What's there?" Lance asked curiously.

"Nothing that concerns you," Keith snapped.

With that, the dragon left him alone. Lance struggled to pass the time, and as the sun just started lowering, Lance had had enough.

He crept to his feet, and silently stalked towards the south end of the cave.

What would be so important for the dragon to forbid me from seeing?

The cave grew dimmer in light, as Lance started keeping his hand on the wall so he wouldn't get lost. Just when he thought of turning back in the pitch black darkness, he spotted a faint glow from further into the chamber.

He pressed on as the glow grew stronger, before the narrowing tunnel suddenly opened into a massive chamber.

Lance immediately spotted the source of the glow. The classic keep of any dragon.

That chamber was filled with gold and jewels. Most was Altean treasure.

He couldn't believe his eyes. There was enough treasure for ten kings...

And Keith had stolen all of it.

Lance knelt down to the edge of a tall pile, and reached for a few of the coins.

He couldn't help himself. A handful of this would have his family set for life. As if in a trance, he reached.

"What are you doing in here?!" A thunderous voice boomed, snapping Lance back to reality.

He whirled around and spotted the furious violet eyes glaring down at him.

"N—Nothing..." Lance stammered, quickly on his feet.

"What did you steal?!"

"N—Nothing!" Lance snapped back. "But it seems you stole it all from my people!"

"Trespasser!" He roared, clutching his head in obvious pain.

"Keith?" Lance prompted reaching for his shoulder as he fell to his knees.

"Run..." Keith breathed, as purple, red, and black fur grew from his skin. His ears and snout elongated, his fingers extended into large and powerful wings, and a strong tail swished angrily behind him.

Lance fell back from the dragon.

It released an echoing shriek and spotted the Altean human. Lance heard the dragon hiss, a glow forming in the back of his throat.

Lance took off and dove out the entry before the chamber erupted in heat from the dragon's fiery breath.

He rolled to his feet and sprinted towards the entrance.

He quickly reached to his back, only to find his quiver empty. I'm out of arrows! He realized. Crap, crap, crap!

He swerved and nearly avoided being barbecued by another stream of fire.

He snatched his cloak, and sprinted towards the gaping cave mouth, before he skirted to a stop, teetering on the edge.

Waves crashed against the cliff side, hundreds of feet below. They practically shouted for Lance to fall, the ocean claiming another victim once he plummeted onto the sharp rocks below, reaching like dark claws out of he frothing waves.

The dragon roared, his thunderous footsteps growing louder and louder.

With no other option than the dragon's snapping jaws, Lance squeezed his eyes shut, and he flung himself off the cliff.
