that night with david changed alexis's perspective on her relationship with him. ever since then, she's been constantly missing his touch. she felt at home in his embrace. that brings her to my current situation: sitting on gabbie's couch while she rants to her and delainey.
"i just don't understand it. he's never held me like that. like i know it sounds dumb, but it felt different. we cuddle all the time, but this time it just felt different. a good different though," alexis ranted to her two closest friends.
"all i'm going to say is, out of all his girl friends, you're the only one he gives that type of attention to," delainey says raising her eyebrows.
"that's how he's always acted though, ever since high school." alexis tried reasoning. they have a complicated relationship that consists of an extremely blurred line between platonic and romantic, but always favored towards the platonic side.
"lex, have you even considered talking to him about this? its obviously stressing you out, and david should be the last person you should be stressing over." gabbie asked with concern.
"i know, i know. i'm probably just overthinking the whole situation. he's never shown that type of interest in me before so why would he start now?" alexis shrugged with a sad smile.
"lexi stop thinking like that." delainey got up to give her a hug.
"i can't help it." tears welled up in alexis's eyes before she could even realize. "i get so worked up about this for no reason. i should be used to the unrequited love by now."
she and gabbie hugged alexis tightly, then let go and gabbie put her hands on her shoulders, so alexis had to look her in the eyes.
"why are you crying? you're acting like you don't have a chance with him. if anything, you have the best chance. you know him the best out of everyone, you've been through so much with him. who do you turn to with basically every problem?"
"david."
"and who do you ask to come over when you're bored and alone at home?"
"david."
"and what about at 3am when you're restless and cant sleep?"
"david."
"and how about this: who does david call when he's unsure about a vlog bit?"
"me."
"and how about when he's stranded and needs a ride?"
"me."
"and when he just wants chipotle but doesn't want to go alone?"
"me."
"exactly alexis. david needs you as much as you need him. he just hasn't realized it yet. but i can see it in his body language. you know about my physic capabilities." gabbie's remark made her laugh.
"can you be honest with me?" alexis asked. gabbie and delainey nodded waiting for her to continue. "do you think david likes me?"
gabbie just laughed, "he'd be stupid not to. in my opinion, the way he acts around you and talks about you when you're not around, you'd think you guys have been married for 36 years. i can see it in his eyes."
"really?" alexis asked in disbelief. every since freshman year algebra one, david and alexis have had an interesting relationship. they were always super close, and everyone thought that they were dating, even though david had a year and a half long relationship that started junior year and ended when david moved out to la. alexis has had some typical high school boyfriends, but none she found significant enough to mention. plus, she's never been the luckiest when it comes to boys. any guy alexis really liked, she ended up embarrassing herself so bad she couldn't look at him anymore. the thing about david is, she never really looked at him in a romantic way, only physical, until they both moved out to california two years ago. the first time alexis realized she truely liked him was at coachella, about 5 months after they both settled into their separate places.
"yeah, ask anyone." delainey says. gabbie and delainely are always the first people alexis comes to when she's confused about david, or anything for that matter. they always tell her to go for it and make the first move, but its so difficult to find the exact moment.

two hours later, the three girls are four episodes deep into a criminal minds marathon when alexis's phone lights up with a facetime call.
"it's david." she says, giving gabbie and delainey a questioning look as to answer it or not.
"answer girl, oh my god. and if he wants you to leave, you're leaving. and if you don't tell him how you feel, i will for you." delainey threatened pausing the show to hear their conversation.
"okay, okay. jeez." she swipes across the screen, answering the call. "what's up?"
"are you busy right now?" david's raspy voice came through her speaker, but all that could be seen was the windshield of his car.
"not really, i'm at gabbie's watching criminal minds." alexis replies, expecting him to interrupt the girl's night.
"okay, cool. i'm picking you up in five minutes." he looked down at his phone, which she assumed was on his leg since he was driving.
"what if i wanted to hang out with gabbie and lainey instead?" alexis inquired, even though she knew the girls didn't mind her leaving.
"i doubt that," gabbie said in the background. "plus i'm getting tired."
"see allie, gabbie doesn't even want you there anymore." david said with a laugh.
"not true, asshole!" gabbie shouted in the background.
"oh whatever," david said and picked up his phone so his whole face was in view. "i'm here!"
"okay, i'll be down in a sec." alexis hung up the call and went to grab her shoes.
delainey gave her a hug goodbye and said, "remember what i said: if you don't feel him how you feel, i will for you. and call me when you get a chance, i wanna hear all about it. " she winked, then proceeded to push alexis into the hallway. "bye! stay safe! i love you!"
"i love you too lainey!" alexis says making her way to the door.
"hey, what about me?" gabbie yells from the couch.
"i love you too gabs!" alexis said with a laugh closing the door and making her way to the elevator, hitting the down arrow.
