It took me a minute to calm my nerves and process everything Dylan said. With a deep breath, I reluctantly played the file because I knew which party it was about and it wasn't going to be easy to listen to."Hey, Laps! I'm going to get dressed a party in a bit. It is at a PG, Maria Crystal's house. Now, you might be wondering why I'm going. Well, Natalie is invited too and when I heard that, I knew something was up.
You see? Maria doesn't really bother Natalie much because she believes that Natalie is 'no fun to bully' but Natalie doesn't know that. She trusts Maria.
I believe that Natalie has to be the one who wrote that note. If that was true, it was my responsibility to protect her. Cody told me he would to anything for me but would never go to a PG's party. I wouldn't say I was okay with that because I'm damn nervous. Perhaps, I will know if Jade is alright too. She has got to be there. I'll tell you more when I come back alright? See ya!"
Just the change in his voice after this informed me that he was back from the party and he wasn't happy.
"Hey, Laps. I'm really tired but I have to tell you what happened because it's going to crush me if I don't let it out. I arrived at the party and as expected, Natalie was there. And she looked damn pretty with her blond hair in curls ocean blue eyes that will make you sink and drown and die. (another Taylor Swift reference) If only she didn't have those glasses on, she would have been the second prettiest girl in the party.
...Jade was the first, of course.
Anyways, they surprisingly didn't do anything to her. They didn't even look at her in-fact. They all looked at me.
"Hey! Wilkin-son of a bitch," a PG repeated their lame joke for the I-don't-know-how-much-th time. They probably thought it was the most genius joke anyone could have ever thought of.
"Who invited you here?" Jade raised an eyebrow... And to think I was actually concerned about her.
I knew I had messed up. For once in my life, I couldn't think of a good sassy comeback.
"He's here to spread his depressing aura here. He's such a-."
"Don't say a word against him! You are the depressed ones. You are the ones who are insecure." Natalie spoke up. It was as unbelievable as watching a dead butterfly come to life.
A PG rolled her eyes and dumped her drink all over me. A very mature move, I would say.
I didn't want to deal with them anymore. You can either call me mature or just a big coward. I walked out to the huge swimming pool Maria had and sat down. How could she? How could Jade be such a bi- s-so mean?
Natalie came running after me.
"Dylan, are you alright?"
"You didn't have to defend me." My own growl scared me.
"Yes I DID! Because-."
"Because? Because why? To make me feel like I can't stand up for myself?!"
Natalie paused. She looked so hurt, I wanted to drown myself in that swimming pool and be done with it.
"BECAUSE I-I-I LIKE YOU! BUT YOU DON'T CARE!" She shouted back.
Her eyes were starting to tear up.
I stood there trying to process what she had just said. Like ME? ME?!
Perhaps Natalie's stupid smiling had affected her ability to think."Damn right I don't care! I don't care about some sloppy notes you leave me because get this: I. DONT. LIKE. YOU. BACK." I just needed to be alone so I blurted out stuff I didn't mean.
She stared at me. "W-what notes are you talking about? What do you mean?"
"I don't want to talk. Please leave."
Silence.
"Dylan-?"
"I SAID LEAVE!" I shouted so loud that I think the water in the swimming pool got wrinkled.
Silence.
And then I realized that it wasn't Natalie this time.
It sounded like...
Jade.
