Chains

69 15 4

I am chained
By society.
By you.

You add a new chain
On me every day.
I am nothing,
But a slave in
Your eyes
That silently strangle me,
Choking me.

I am tugging on the chains,
Yanking, pulling, struggling
To be free.
The blood from my wounds
Flow and mix with my tears
As I scream and shout

And yell out my lungs in a flurry
Of clinking chains and
Haunting wails and
Shrieks for someone to
PLEASE SAVE ME

But I mask it all with a smile.
Though my eyes still shine
With the pain and suffering and
My eyes still scream for
The taste of freedom
Away from these chains

Away from you

Author's note:

Inspiration for this poem came at 2 am when I was half asleep and I jotted it all down on to my phone before falling back to sleep. This was also kind of inspired by the period of when I was at my worst with mental health like how I mentioned in the author's note for the poem "Bomb"

But anyways I hope you guys liked this poem! This is completely raw like no edits have been made to this XD
