The King stood there across the way. I couldn't see anything physically beastly about him, if anything he seemed a thousand times more enchanting than every other vampire around. Even his eyes were a dark, intriguing ans inviting brown, he looked human. I was almost tempted to go over and hug him, but I knew better. Though aside from Jordan, he was the first human looking person I'd come across in ages, even though inside I knew very well there was no way he was human. For some reason, butterflies began to flutter in my stomach not out of fear but something else...perhaps out of anticipation or dare I say...hope?
All of a sudden out of the corner of my eyes I saw Jordan running towards the figure, screaming in anger. My heart sunk. My legs dashed towards him before my brain even had time to process what was happening, running after him and getting closer and closer towards the King. I wasn't about to let this man who I hadn't even talked to yet get anywhere near Jordan. To me, his actions weren't brave, they were idiotic. A fear travelled down my spine that I had never felt before. It was the fear of losing the only family I had left. Tears formed in my eyes as I ran as fast as I could to catch up with Jordan but that was no easy task. He was somehow an amazing runner, it was like he was born to run.
"Jordan!" I screamed out as I got close enough to finally grab him and lift up up off the ground and tight to me as he squirmed, trying to get out of my grasp. We were only just less than a metre away from the King and I slowly looked up at him. He was tall, and up close he even looked a little pale and sickly and quite intimidating. It was so different from his look of beauty he had only minutes ago. My fear calmed very slightly as I watched his smile somehow turn soft from his previous smirk. Something seemed overly familiar about that smile, as if I had seen it before. I pushed Jordan behind me and back onto the ground, still firmly clutching onto his wrist before looking back at Henry and rage built up in the pit of my stomach. He was still where he stood before, completely motionless! I rolled my eyes and slowly looked back at the King. So much for protecting Jordan and I. I wanted to tell the King to go away however his gentle smile and sickly but still enchanting face almost made me move closer towards him.
"I'm sorry for my brother's behaviour, neither of us have really...been around vampires for very wrong."
The King smiled and chortled softly. The entire time our eyes were locked to each other but as he took a step forward, I slowly took a step back. Though he seemed gentle and there was something about him that made me immediately want to trust him, this was still the apparent beast who starved Henry, the beast of two bloods. I didn't want to believe it. It was as if I really wanted to trust him. Though apparently this man had the powers of a god, looks a thousand times better than a vampire yet as trusting as a human and an uncontrollable thirst for the death of humans.
"Jordan, go back inside the hut and this time stay there." I said softly, my eyes still locked to the King's.
Jordan refused to do so, instead he glared at Lucifer so hard I swore I saw a fire burn in his eyes as if he was trying to burn a hole through him. I turned around and finally broke the stare long enough to glare at Jordan who started moving the second out eyes met. Even though it was only for a second, I swore I could see a twinkle in his eye, but it alarmed me. Usually when one talkes of a twinkle or a glint in the eye, it symbolizes love but this was much darker as if his deep hatred for vampires was only growing more. A deep hatred that would ultimately result in his own death and that's what scared me more than the King in front of us.
"I'm sorry about that." I said as I looked back at the King and jumped slightly as he was now right in front of me. I hadn't even seen or heard him move close to me.
He nodded understandingly and smirked slightly, "It's nice to see you again, Lily."
My eyes widened. How did he know me? I had never seen him before in my life. Sure he seemed familiar but I'm usually very good with faces and for some reason I couldn't put my finger on exactly how I knew him or where I'd seen him before, maybe a friend of my parents? No, that would have been impossible. My parents would have told me if they knew the vampire King and if they were friends, he would have given our entire family immunity, being unable to be killed by any zombies or vampires. Even though I was only Jordan's age when all of this started, I still swore I knew this man somehow.
