This is a story all about American gods. I'm sure that you've heard of Greek and Roman gods, but American gods are just a little different.
You see, when the Earth started turning round and round, Greeks and Romans tried to find a reason for Why everything happened. Why the sun would come up during the day and why it would go back down. So, they created these gods to explain things. Some examples are Zeus, god lightning, Hermes, god of messengers, Athena, goddess of war. If you've read Percy Jackson, you know all about this. But if you haven't, I'm just giving you a brief history lesson.
Okay, well anyway, the Romans also created gods, but they called them different names. The equivalent of Zeus, Hermes, and Athena were Jupiter, Mercury, and Minerva. Since Greeks and Romans were around much earlier than most of America (I don't mean to discredit Native Americans, I'm sorry), we technically have a reason for why everything does what it does. However, if you disregard science, the things in this book could be true. They're not, but it's fine.
Sorry for boring you. Now it's time to get right into the story. Okay, so, hundreds of years ago, when settlers first started coming to America, they were angry at Britain. Britain was taxing their tea and demanding they still follow British rule. Well, the colonists didn't like this. Rocky was created. There was a secret team of spellcasters that your history books won't tell you about. But those guys were the ones that created Rocky.
When he was created, he immediately started wreaking havoc. He started off with little things, such as the Boston Tea Party. However, after a while, a full blown war broke out. The colonies were going to war with Britain. They were ill prepared, though. The colonies were smaller than Britain. They had less supplies, less soldiers, less of everything. Rocky was still controlling them and his only thought was anger. He didn't have strategy. He didn't have skill. There was just anger. That was what fueled colonists for the longest time. The people that created Rocky soon realized what a terrible thing they had done. They tried un-creating him, but he was too strong.
Have you ever heard the saying every action has an equal opposite reaction? Well, Isaac Newton said that. Not important. But the saying is true. Since Rocky was borne, an opposite reaction had to occur, too. The group of people who created Rocky didn't know it yet, but when Rocky had appeared, another goddess had also appear. She was keeping quiet and planning what to do, but she was there. When she saw that war was inevitable, it saddened her. She was, after all, the goddess of peace and knew ways that could have stopped a war from starting.
Rio thought that since she can't go back in time and change to past, she would simply make the future better. Slowly but surely, Rio fixed the corrupted minds of the smartest people in America, including George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, and a few others. They calculated how to get the upper hand in the war and to finally sign a peace treaty.
When Rocky heard of this terrible thing going on, he grew even more angry, which I didn't even think was possible. He built up his anger, and soon released it, causing the War of 1812.
Finally, after years of not knowing what was causing these bursts of anger and peacefulness, Rio and Rocky met by pure chance. When they first laid eyes on each other, they were drawn together. They were complete opposites, but I guess opposites attract.
Anyway, when another war starts, it's because those two are quarreling. The war will eventually end, but it could take a while depending on how bad the fight is.
Rio and Rocky had a child whose name was Liberty. Liberty is the goddess of equality. New York even built a statue of her. You'll leanr more about her in the next chapter. Toodles for now!
Hey, if you have any comments, good or bad, feel free to type them. I'd like to hear, er, read your opinions. Thanks!
