Jack took one step forward, and the whole room scooted back. His face was completely replaced by that of a furry, hairy wolf, its teeth peering off the sides of his mouth, its eyes a vertical yellow--
My heart punched at the walls of my chest. I wanted to say something, but the moment I tried, Jack suddenly made a quick pace around the counter and headed for me. There was something murderous in his stare.
Travis stepped forward feebly, trying to hold out his hands to stop Jack from walking toward me in a heated fury—Travis said, "Don't do anything stupid, Jack--"
But Jack walked straight up to me and towered over me like a skyscraper about to collapse—He looked like he was about to say something, but all of sudden, he said nothing and simply through forward his hands—and lunged them onto my neck!
I was frozen as stone before he threw me back and my head hit the wall. I closed my eyes and felt the tears burst out of me in pain--
And I thought no one would help me. . . until I heard somebody stand, and shout out-- "You choke her, Jack—and I'll kill you."
Jack's grip didn't let go.
