So... my name is Kayla Thomas and I'm just now finishing my junior year of high school. Nothing seems normal in my life as of right now. I mean, my grades are great and everything, it's just that I haven't felt truly happy in a long time. I've been hurt so many times. I lost so many friendships, I've been played so many times by guys, and I'm just tired of it.
It was the first day of summer and I spent it on tumblr, as always, and just decided to relax.
Mom: Kayla!!! Honey!
Me: Yes mom?
Mom: I need you to take the dog out for a walk!
Me: Okay...
Believe me, that last thing I wanted to do was leave my comfy bed to go out in the hot Florida sun. I grabbed the leash and put it around my dog, Buster.
We emerged outside and I instantly closed my eyes. I can't deal with this sun, like no. I began walking down the few steps to my front lawn only to find myself on the ground. I groaned slightly and realized that Buster was gone.
Me: BUSTER NOOO COME BACK!
I began running like crazy, trying to find any trace of my missing dog, but there was nothing. No one was near, and my dog was gone. Great.
I began walking back home to break the news to my family, when I heard a little girl scream and I stopped in my tracks.
Little Girl: OMG HELLPP A DOGG!
I smiled and ran into the direction of the little girl's voice across the street. I peered over the fence and saw a girl, about 5 years old, sitting in a pool with Buster not that far from her. Her name was Arielle and I baby sat her every once and a while.
Me: Arielle, are you okay?
Arielle: Help me... the dog is gonna eat me!
I chuckled and climbed the fence, and grabbed Buster's leash as fast as I could.
Me: It's okay now, I got him.
Arielle: He's your dog?
Me: Yeah! He's harmless I promise! Here, pet him!
Arielle: Okay....
As soon as she pet him, her face lit up, and it was such a wonderful sight to see.
Arielle: Heehee he's so nice!
Me: See! You got nothing to be afraid of! Buster loves people!
I sat next to Arielle's pool and kept letting her pet Buster as I decided to check my phone. I went to Instagram first and saw a picture of Jacob with his new girl friend, I rolled my eyes and rubbed Buster too. Jacob was my ex... only tried to get with me for sex until I turned him down. He quickly moved on to another girl I guess.
Besides Jacob, there were some other guys that lead me on, only to leave me broken hearted in the end. Like I said, it's been a tough year.
Just then, Arielle's older brother, Rayan, walked out with us. Rayan was in my grade as well. He kept to himself a lot, but he was really nice. I never saw much of him because he was always locked inside his house just like me. We had pretty much the same social group though, so we hung out every now and then.
Rayan: Hey guys! What's up?
Me: Just recovering from me chasing Buster! Haha just playin... but you know, the usual.
Rayan: Enjoying summer so far?
Me: Yeah, it's so nice to finally be able to sleep in you know?
Rayan: Very!
