we were at one of the clubs that are one of the few that actually host live band concerts. I've never been interested enough to come but somehow the venue being quiet and isolated brought me a slice of peace.

"Why are we here Alec?"

he walked around to the bar counter. "i work and perform here. thought i might practice before i start work."

"You're a bartender?"

"And the lead singer of the band 'TIMELINE'"

i smiled cheekily. "Hot".

A singer and the groundskeeper of alcohol? sign me up.

he gave me a sly grin. "I like you."

i put both hands up defensively. "oh woah slow down cowboy i know im a lot of sexy to take in but you need to cool it kay?"

he rolled his eyes seeming amused but just a bit embarassed. "Not like that you nutcase. I mean you're honest. its very refreshing. even though its a bit inappropriate you say whatever is on your mind."

"well you've got to be the first to think so. most people deem it as confronting or just weird."

"most people are stupid."

i felt a flutter erupt a smile for me. "You're too good, kind sir." i leaned closer to him and tugged on his leather jacket to bring him closer. "Maybe we were meant to meet. I could handle a little good bittersweetness."

His hypnotizing blue eyes remained stuck on my lips for a good minute before pulling himself away as i laughed.
"You almost had me there C." his eyes grew playful and confident.

"oh really? What set you on track?"

"I realized im no good for you either way. This is the friendliest i get and its only temporary. I dont want friends, especially not a crazy girl like you." his words cut deep i must admit.

"If you say so."

"You're fine with it?"

"yeah totally, you don't like friends and im too crazy for you i get it."
He thinks he actually has a choice.

"oh. Okay well im glad you understand." i nodded. "Do you want to go home now?"

"yeah i think i might. Give me a ride?"

"Ofcourse."

After horribly directing him to my address i reached for my bag and phone until he swiftly grabbed it from my reach.

"Come to the club tonight. My band is performing."

"What happened to temporary friendship?"

"Its still valid but i think you need a night out just for fun." he was too good at this. i could help but feel like hes been watching my life like a movie starting with my fathers death.

"i'll be there." i snatched back my phone and quickly made my way to the door of my house feeling uneasy until he'd left.

***

My mum was in the kitchen staring at the wall when i walked through the front door. I cant seem to decide if i think she has no idea about me skipping school or if she actually had any response to the call from the school regarding my absence.
I'll take my chances.

"Hey mum, how you feeling?"

her shallow brown eyes switched her back to reality to take a look at her only daughter.
"Cecelia, finish school already?"
i shook my head.

"No mum. I skipped." See i dont blame my mum for not being the most attentive and alert mother. She went through something tragic, and yeah some people get over this stuff quicker but if i remember correctly my mother and father shared a wonderful marriage full of love and mocking eachother. I looked upto them. They trusted eachother more than anyone in the world and i can only hope that my first love would be like theirs.
