The Gift

After  Connor had finished exploring he climbed down the the cliff and began to head towards the town. As Connor was heading back he noticed how the sea sparkled in the pink sunset. The town began to draw closer and closer as he was getting closer carrying his bag of loot over his back. Soon Connor reached the town and found a small smithery when he entered he took out the ruby ring and walk up to the counter.

"Hello what can I do for you stranger?" A rugged man in a black apron who was most likely the blacksmith asked.

"I was wondering if you do engravings here?" Connor asked rubbing his head.

"Sure thing what do you want engraved and what do you want it to say?" The blacksmith asked him leaning against the counter.

"Oh um can you engrave this ring to say Rose." Connor said as he placed the ring on the counter.

"Wow this is a real beauty of a ring and sure thing I'll have this finished by tomorrow that will just be three hundred gold. Also can I as who this Rose is she your lover well I can guarantee she will love it." The blacksmith said as he picked up the ring to examine it.

"N-No it's not like that I'm just her traveling companion and she has done a lot for me and I just want to return the favor." Connor stuttered as a large blush crept across his cheeks.

"Well either way I'm sure she'll love it" The blacksmith said as Connor paid the money and left. By the time he had left the shop it was already dark so he decided to head backing to the tavern and was greeted by a worried looking Rose.

"Are you ok? What took you so long?" Rose asked worriedly as she got up and walked over to Connor.

"I'm fine it just took a little while to get back." Connor said as he put down his bag of loot.

"Well did you get anything interesting?" Rose asked as she began her way over to the bag.

"Ya but it's late we should head to bed burt don't worry I'll show you in the morning." Connor said as he picked the bag back up and headed to his room.

"Awe ok well goodnight then." Rose said as she went to her room.

The next morning Connor awoke to the sound of a loud knock on his door. Connor rubbed his eyes and groggily got out of bed and put on a black t-shirt and some shorts. Connor then heard the knock again this time a little louder and he finally got to the door and opened it to find a very excited Rose bouncing up and down.

"Hey Connor it's already noon can I see what the interesting thing you found was?" Rose asked excitedly.

"Wait it's already noon wow I overslept anyways I don't have it here follow me." Connor said as he shut the door and walked out of the tavern and into the street.

"Can please at least tell me what it is?"

"Sorry Rose but that would ruin the surprise." Connor said and Rose blushed lightly when he called her princess.

"Awe ok." Rose said as they stopped in front of the little smithery.

"Well this is the place it's in this little shop." Connor said as they walked into the smithery.

"Ah perfect timing I just finished it oh and you must be Rose." The blacksmith said as he looked over to Rose.

"Wait how do you know my name?" Rose asked.

"Oh you'll see now here it is mister." The blacksmith said as he gave Connor the ring without letting Rose see.

"What is he talking about Connor what did he just give you and also how does he know my name?" Rose asked looking very confused.

"He knows your name because I had him engrave this with your name so I could give it to you." Connor said as he showed Rose the ring. Rose covered her mouth and gasped when she saw the ring.

"It's so beautiful thank you so much but why did you go through so much trouble just for me?" Rose asked as she picked up the ring and put it on her finger and the ring fitted perfectly.

"It's cause you've done so much for me I thought you would like this and it's also to say thank you for caring about me and not thinking me as just a freak." Conner said smiling then rose suddenly hugged him tight and put her face into his shirt. After a good while of hugging they stopped hugging and left the shop and wandered the streets.

"Hey Rose." Connor said

"Ya, what is it" Rose asked.

"I'm glad I met you, I know we've only been traveling together for a little bit but I've had a lot of fun." Connor said as he held Roses hand.

"I am glad too it makes traveling a lot less boring and lonely." Rose said smiling brightly.

"Hey I have to sell all the rest of the loot I got would you come and help me get a good price for it since trading is your job?" Connor asked.

"I would love to this way we'll have more money in total." Rose said and then Connor rand into the tavern and into his room to grab the large sack of loot. Once Connor had grabbed the sack he ran back out and he and rose started to look for some shop to sell to. Soon after awhile of walking Connor and Rose came across a shop that had a sign that read "if you have something to sell we'll buy it.

"Well this place looks promising." Connor said as they entered the shop. When Connor and Rose entered they were greeted by a humanoid cat lady (this is basically a female cat that walks like a human and can talk like a human too.) and Rose stumbled backwards in surprise.

"How can I help you?" The lady asked.

"Ummmmm not to be rude but what are you?" Rose asked regaining her balance.
