I move the mirror down before collapsing onto the floor. “Oh my god…” I mumble to myself. The tears started to flow again, hot and heavy. Almost as if the weight of my sins were carrying them down. “Hold on, “ I whispered to myself “there's no way I'm the only one here!” I shout excitedly before running out of the hospital. I begin to call for anyone. In the mists of my freak out, I get a good look at my surroundings. The grass was completely dead, while the trees and vines around it grew lusciously. There was something oddly beautiful. I smiled to myself before taking a deep breath, as I exhaled I felt something metallic against my neck
“stay where you are stranger.” A deep voice said in a soft growl behind me. They pressed the sharp metal object against my skin. “Remove anything from your pockets, immediately!” I had no idea who was commanding me, but I had to do what they said. I gently reached into my pockets pulling out the pair of glasses I had. The voice didn't seem impressed ‘that's all? You've been defending yourself with that?” They took the object off of my neck, and I was able to turn around to get a good look at them.
They were tall and muscular, honey brown hair with soft green eyes. Square face as well as a very sharp jawline. They were a little darker than me, not much. Not my type. “Wait to defend me? Do I need to defend myself? Why would I need to defend myself! What's the danger here.” I ask incredibly confused and worried about my safety. “Wait wait wait wait, first introductions. My name is Lilianne; you can call me Lily for short” I extended my hand towards him.
He looked down at my hand and shook it after realising I was no threat to him. “James. I have a few questions for you before I answer any questions. You got that?” He asked me. I nodded reluctantly. He nodded back “okay, the first question. How come you're here but have no idea on your situation, did you have a bad fall, bit by a snake? I need to know before proceeding.”
I merely shrugged “I put on those glasses, I was transferred to a simulation like a universe, where I looked like this, but I didn't look like this before I put them on. I took them off, and now I'm here, my best friend was found dead. I don't know where my parents are. I don't know what's going on; please help.” I begged. He looked a little confused at what I just said.
James tilted his head a bit ‘you mean, you're the sleeping beauty?” He asked simply. As if I'm supposed to know what that means! I gave him a confused look “there's a girl that has been sleeping inside this hospital since forever. We dubbed her the sleeping beauty. Though she wasn't the prettiest, pale, skinny, her face was sunken. Overall, not a pleasant sight.”
“Yeah, that's me,” I said with a sigh. “Now can you explain the situation?” I Asked starting to get annoyed with this James character.
With a completely straight face, James calmly said to me “listen, most of the humans left a long time ago due to extreme radiation. Only the poor, weak and sick were left.”
“Which means me…” I sighed softly. “Wanna show me around? Teach me how to survive?”
James looked around a bit “ I guess since neither of us has anything to do.” He sighed and began walking. “follow me!” He yelled
Holy crap did this kid have long legs. Maybe because he looks like he's 6’5… I, on the other hand, loved my thick and short body type. Not saying that he doesn't love his body, he probably doesn't even have time to think about his body as much as I do.
“Uhh, where are we going?” I asked looking around. The trees grew larger and larger with each step we took more in-depth into these woods. You could hear the sounds of animals. Although they didn't exactly sound familiar.
James looked back for a second “right you're following. We are heading to the English base. Hopefully, someone will take you as a pet?”
“Pet!” I shouted completely dumbfounded. “I am not going to be someone's pet!”
“Oh did I say pet, I meant bride,” James said with a soft smirk on his face. Was that a smirk of joking or was it a smirk of evil. Whatever it is I won't become someone's wife. Not acceptable.
Thank you all for the amazing support on my last chapter...which was the beginning chapter. I don't respond to comments (sorry) but if you do want to talk to me, my messages are opened! This chapter is a little bit shorter because of the lack of action in this one. It's really more of an introduction on how this world works, as well as a new character!!! Hope you all enjoy this one, I'm hoping to be able to post the next chapter tomorrow, but any suggestions on where to go next from this are welcomed. Bye!
