After the bright light faded, the female sat on the floor and stared out into the distance. Her bruises were gone and she was as when she had left. In her hands she held the small smooth, thin, plastic, rectangle that was an ID card of a woman by the name: Ashley McAnnie.
A male with dark hair stood in front of her, he was different than that of the one she had met before. He was rougher and tougher than the other man. He grabbed the female by her wrist and pulled her up off of her feet.
"Jack! We have a problem!" The male called as he dragged the female out of the room and down the hallway. The female stumbled and wobbled down the hallway as she struggled to keep up with his long strides. His hand gripped her wrist tightly and he was about twice the size of the female which made his steps larger than hers.
"What is it now?" The male from before turned around at the call of the man. He would lean back against the kitchen island and rest his elbows against the counter top. The man pushed the female in front of him, the sudden push caused the female to stumble forward before falling onto her knees.
"She knows. She found out about us. We need to get rid of her." The man grunted as he leaned back onto his left leg and crossed his arms with the right one over his left. Jack simply smiled and looked down at the female and then back to the man.
"All I see is our old friend, Ashley McAnnie." The male said, his voice calm and soothing.
"But Ash is dead! She died in the accident!" The man huffed loudly, he seemed angered and annoyed by the slyness of the male as he shifted his weight onto his right foot.
"Is she?" The male smirked as he looked down at the female. His brown eyes met with hers which seemed to laul her into his trance. The female was confused by the two males, everything was different. Nothing made sense to her. She had been put in an unpredictable and terrifying situation, and yet she felt calm and safe every time the male smiled at her.
"I'm not going to deal with this!" The man snarled and stomped off, making loud noises with his feet as he did so. "You go get yourself in trouble with the boss! I'm not gonna be apart of your little charade!" The man would yell as he got farther and farther away from the two. The female would then look to the male as he gently pulled her up onto her feet.
"Are you alright? I'm sorry for Geoff. He's really a nice guy when you get to know him. He's just thick skinned." The male tried to calm the female down with his soothing voice as he held her hands in his. "Would you like something to eat or drink before we begin?" The male asked. This confused Caroline. Before they begin what? She began to think of all the possiblities of what the male could mean by his comment.
"Water please." The female replied as her eyes gazed around the room. The kitchen looked like a normal looking kitchen: it had a white fridge, a white stove and oven, it even had a white dishwasher. In between the appliances were dark brown - almost black - wooden cupboards. The sink was in the corner of the room in between the dishwasher and the stove and oven.
The male nodded and released her hands before making his way around the island to the cupboards that held the glasses. The cupboard door made a high pitched squeak as the male pulled it open to grab a moderate sized glass cup from the middle shelf. When he turned and closed the cupboard door, the door did not squeak, it only made a thud sound as it made contact with the stopper. The male then carried the glass over to the sink and pulled the blue banded handle towards him, soon after water began to flow quickly out of the spout. He would then stick his finger into the mini waterfall to test the water's temperature to make sure it was good enough for the female to drink. Once he deemed it to be at the right temperature, the male would slip the clear glass under the flow of water and leaned against the sink's counter as he watched the water pour into the glass.
"Would you like ice?" The male called to the female without looking away from the glass.
"Um...." The female pondered on the option for a brief moment. "Sure." She replied as she neared the island and rested her arms upon the counter top.
"Aright." The male smiled as the female would apply pressure to her elbows and lean forward. Soon the glass had been filled up to about three quarters of the glass.
The male would then push the tap away from him as he watched the the water slowly pour out before coming to a dripping stop. He would then pull the glass out and gently place it onto the counter before going over to the fridge. He would grip the handle of the freezer's door before pulling it open, a rush of cold air would greet him causing him to shudder at the chill. He would reach into the freezer and pull out a medium sized blue ice tray and brought it over to the glass of water. The male would then take out two cubes of ice and plop them into the glass of water before returning it to the freezer. The freezer door would close with a soft thud sound as the male pushed it closed. Picking up the glass, the male would walk over to the female and gently place it in front of her.
"There you go." The male smiled at the female as she eased up on her elbows and stood up straight.
"Thank you." The female smiled and gripped the glass in her hands. The cold water chilled her warm palms as she grasped the glass and lifted it up to her lips. She would then press her lips to the edge of the glass before taking a small sip of the cold water.
"Is it alright?" The male asked as he tilted his head and leaned against the island counter top. The female would pull the glass away from her mouth as she swallowed the water, she would then nod to say "yes" in reply to his question. "Good." The male smiled warmly seeing the female nod in reply to his question. "Follow me. I need to show you something now."
The male would press off of the island and start walking towards the hallway. He would stop and turn towards the female to make sure she was still following him. The female would hold her glass in her hands and slowly follow the male while making sure she did not drop or spill her water. The female was confused by the male's reaction, for some reason her cautious motions made the male smile. As the female caught up with the male, he would turn back again and begin to continue walking towards his destination. The female would try her best to follow in behind him. The male would guide the female to the room she had accidentally walked into before.
"Here we are." The male smiled. "Now I shall tell you everything I know." The male informed as he pulled the female into the room. "Please have a seat on the chair there." The male then pointed to the chair in the corner of the room.
Feeling a bit nervous, the female would do as told and walk over to the chair. She would sit down upon the small wooden chair, the chair was cold against her warm body. The female would hold her glass of water just above her lap, gently leaning the glass against her plush thighs.
"Listen closely. This will be a lot to take in." The male began as he pushed the switch for the lights down as they shut off. Making the only thing the female could see be the male's brown eyes. "My name is Jack and I am a time traveling spy. Me and my coworkers work with various unknown clients to help save the world from various serious disasters. Using metal watches, like the one you found in the backpack along with the ID card, we are able to travel through time. Now what we do may sound like good, but the way we do it is very much frowned upon in most of the times we have travelled to. Now if you want to stay alive, you will have to join us in our mission. You must never tell anyone about this or about who you are. If you agree to join our team, you will be known as Ashley McAnnie." The male paused to look down for a moment. When he looked back up at the female, she could tell that he was serious. "Do you want to join our team?"
