I didn't wanna say I felt stupid in my uniform on my first day, but I felt stupid. And — oh, I didn't want to say I was nervous on my first day, but I was nervous. I'm completely soaked under my clothes as I sit in an unfamiliar car, being driven around by an unfamiliar guy that was to be our new chauffeur.
Until we moved, seeing me being driven around in a fancy car and then taken back to my hovel of a home probably wouldn't add up to some people. But Chisame was so on it. She'd already bought the house — I hadn't seen it yet, but I was sure it'd be flashy as hell.
But anyway, here I was, sitting in the car that was now parked along one of the sidewalks leading toward the school. I placed my hands hesitantly on the glass and watched all of the breathtakingly beautiful students walk around, talk, laugh, text, call..it was a regular high school, only with 100% rich students born with a silver spoon in their mouths.
My stomach twisted when I realized just how out of place I'd look around them. Even more so when I realized I was actually caring! I hadn't cared before, so why now?!
"Manabe-San."
I jump when I hear the voice of the driver. For a moment I have to remember who he was. Still wasn't used to the whole chauffeur thing.
"Yeah?" I answer, my voice surprisingly very shaky.
"You'll be late, Miss."
"Oh, right." I reach for my bag, and a moment later he gets out of the car to come around and open it for me. As I step out, I realize I had done absolutely nothing to make my hair presentable. Here I was wearing this gorgeous uniform and my appearance didn't match.
"Why do I get the strange feeling I'll be eaten alive..." I mumble. The chauffeur chuckles in response.
"I'd like to speak comfort to you, Miss, but, kids can be cruel. As long as you hold your head high and show them they can't harm you, they'll either lose interest or learn to respect you."
Great. I don't have the time to invest into being well-liked. I'm gonna die in here.
