"Now, just place your hands on the crystal ball," said Hadlan. Alzius was the first to step up to the ball. Its surface was filled with flickering flames that were white, blue and green.
"What are those flames?" Lestra asked. There were many, many different types of magical fire.
"Deathfire," answered Hadlan.
"But Deathfire is purple and red!" protested Lestra.
"Are you going to look at the vision or not?" asked Hadlan impatiently. Lestra's mouth snapped shut and she sat on the couch beside Alzius. A shiver of nervousness coimbed up his spine. Lestra was right beside him!
Renny sat on Alzius' other side. Alzius reached his hands forward and placed them on the crystal ball. It felt icy cold. Lestra touched the crystal ball next, and then Renny. Suddenly the world tipped over and everything was filled with blue, white and green flames. The flames licked their way up Alzius, not burning him but instead filling him with power as though he had cast a strength rune.
Suddenly the flames turned to normal deathfire. It struggled against the air as though it was trying to escape a cage. Suddenly, Alzius could make out shapes in the world of fire. They were huge with beating wings and long spiny tails. The sound of deafening flapping filled Alzius' world as hundreds of dragons emerged from the flames around him, all flying in one direction. The dragons all had orange scales except for a few with red scales and they were all wearing armour. Their eyes glittered amber as they surveyed the world of fire they were in.
The scene changed to the silhouette of a castle on a hill. The castle grew larger and larger until its black shape dominated everything, spinning the world into darkness. Then it showed a city of castles that stretched as far as Alzius could see in any direction. People roamed between the huge buildings, going about their every day life. Then Alzius recignised one of the castles. It was the castle of Alyndale where Lestra lived. Then the sound of wings filled the air and the armoured dragons appeared. They terrorised the city, shooting flames everywhere. Alzius cried out in fear.
Then another force of dragons appeared. These ones had blue scales, longer necks and wore no armour. Their eyes were green and filled with determination. These dragons filled Alzius with a sense of peace and happiness but how could that be? Dragons were evil beasts of vengeance and blood! The new dragons flew up to meet the orange dragons, shooting white fire. But before the two armies clashed, half of the blue dragons suddenly went up in the white, blue and green deathfire. Their screams echoed across the castle city as they fell to the ground. More and more of the blue dragons perished until their was only a very elderly, weak dragon left. He held a ball of blue light.
The last blue dragon began to burn. Just before he fell, he cast the blue light up into the sky. The red dragons swooped down and began to burn down the city. And there were no blue dragons left to stop them.
The scene changed yet again to show the flickering blue light. The light grew brighter and brighter until it became an egg bathed in brightness. Somehow, Alzius knew that it contained a blue dragon.
Suddenly the vision changed to a picture of three people he knew very well. It was Renny, Lestra and himself, Alzius. The normal deathfire enveloped it and all of the blue dragons appeared but they were tiny. Behind them stood a collossal red dragon wearing a black crown. He had a pendant with an amber jewel around his neck. The tiny blue dragons were enveloped in the strange deathfire before they were sucked into the jewel. The huge dragon king turned to Alzius and grinned an evil grin. Behind him stood four slightly smaller red dragons. Then the world was consumed in the strange deathfire again. Thousands of voices whispered one word all around Alzius.

Then everything went black.

Alzius sprung backwards and fell off the couch. He felt his head strike the wooden floor and he groaned.
"Kersus was there, I saw Kersus," said Lestra, breathing heavily.
"What was that other dragon, the one that protected the city?" Renny shouted. He had never once seen a long necked blue dragon with green eyes.
"Hadlan, what did all that mean?" said Alzius as he sat up.
"For once, a sensible question!" Hadlan exclaimed. "Once, the dragons were divided into three huge clans. The orange dragons belonged to the Sanjuro Clan, the red dragons belonged to the Bealicus Clan and the blue dragons belonged to the Feldora Clan. The Sanjuro Clan was strong and durable. The Bealicus Clan was incredibly gifted in dark magic. And lastly, the Feldora Clan could see the future. The Feldora Clan was benevolent, wise and good, and the Bealicus Clan resented that. So one day the Bealicus clan began to plan an attack on the blue dragons. But then a terrible disease struck the Bealicus Clan. It struck down the dragons of the clan until their were only twenty survivors left.
"These twenty remaining dragons somehow managed to become the leaders of the Sanjuro Clan. From there they managed to use their magic to make the Feldora Clan vanish. No one knew where they went except according to this vision they were magically trapped inside that gem," Hadlan explained.
"And what does that have to do with us?" Lestra asked flatly. Hadlan glared at her for not understanding his vision.
"You three must find the gem and free the Feldora Clan before the Bealicus and Sanjuro Clans attack humanity and destroy everything you've ever known. If you fail, all will be lost. . ."
