Even with my dulled senses, I felt something different around me. A person. That new sensation seemed to wake my body up a bit. As much as it could, at least.
The storm whirling around me, throwing my long hair around, was not dying down. Not one bit. It seemed as if it was actually growing stronger. I am surprised I had not been wisped away yet.
All of a sudden my body left the ground. But not by the wind. I peeled my eyes open again to see a shoulder. A shoulder? A shoulder...connects to a neck and a neck...connects to a head. Then I saw his face. Wisps of the fuzzy hood surrounding his face fell out of his hood and onto dark skin. Golden eyes. I have never seen golden eyes before...they looked like little embers burning in his irises. I think I'm losing my mind.
The boy who was cradling me in his arms glanced down at me and stopped walking. I had just realized we were moving.
"Keep your head down," his voice came out in a whisper, but since his head was so close to mine, I could hear him over the winds. I put my head back down on his shoulder as he began to trudge through the thickets of snow. As we went on, a swarm of questions about the boy holding me invaded my foggy mind, but I pushed them aside. I was starting to doze off as I felt my body grow warmer. Warm? How could I possibly be warm? It must have been basically radiating off of this boy. He didn't seem cold at all. These were questions for later. I knew sleep was coming and I knew I definitely was not going to wake up anytime soon.
