It's been almost two years since that day. We had to leave that school due to land issues. I can still feel hard concrete against my face, I still feel the pain. As a grade 6 my goal is to pass the year with at least 5 A's, because if I don't, I'm pretty likely to earn a beating. Things seemed okay as the days went by. But my annoying behaviour, not so much. I try and try to change, but it's hard. I can't. Even as I write this novel, I know that once it's done, I still won't change. "Hey!" I heard. It was one of my close friends, he was just reminding me to pay attention. Our teacher was giving a lecture on a novel. "Ember" or something. Her name was Mrs. Zodal. Kind of a weird name, but it's okay.

As Zodal was finishing up, there was a knock on the classroom door. It was probably some stupid janitor or something, so I continued writing. But then, I heard a voice of enthusiasm, a voice of delight and happiness. It was our secretary. "Why's she here," I thought. "Is there an incident?"

But then someone stepped into class with her, it was a girl. She was introduced to the class, her appearance was kind of pretty. Her name was "Reeshei." Kind of strange, but suitable.

I introduced myself in my most childish and joyful way. "Hi! My name's Simon." She smiled back. Reeshei had looked like every other person that had their first day here. Little did she know, she'd come to the wrong place.

I'd stared off into distance. "Simon." I thought. When did I even change my name? Why?
