Alana
The Mason home
Albuquerque, New MexicoI was sitting in the living room, laying on a chair in the living room while Adrien was watching a basketball game and screaming at his favorite team.
I was going back up to my room, only to be stopped halfway when there was a knock at the door. I stopped on the stairs. Mom went to answer it, obvious that Adrien wasn't planning on getting up any time soon.
"Ms. Mason," I heard Ryan's voice. I scowled. How did he find my house? "Is Alana home? I came to apologize to her."
Really? After three days?
Mom tossed her head over her shoulder and I shook my head, my eyes wide. I made hand gestures, signalling no. Mom understood, and answered Ryan's question.
"She's busy with homework. I don't think now is such a good time. It was nice seeing you again, Ryan."
I continued up the stairs, going through my room and opened the door to the balcony, leaning heavily against the metal railing. It felt nice after dark: a light breeze and a little cool.
I heard rustling and turned my head in the direction in which the noise was coming from. In the light from the balcony porch light, I saw Ryan standing in the grass with the gate pulled open.
I shook my head dismissively. I started laughing. This was not the first time Ryan has done something like this.
"You're crazy, Ryan Evans." I said. I played with the strings of my hoodie, one of the few I received from my brother. I dig big hoodies.
"Why? Because I know where you live? I asked your brother!" He had his hands in his hair, smiling like a maniac. Suddenly, Ryan disappeared. He then reappeared right in front of me on the other side of the railing, barely hanging on.
"I didn't mean that stuff I said the other day, Lana. I lied to Sharpay that way if we did audition together, she would have low expectations for you like she does for everyone else. I wanted to protect you from Sharpay. But since we didn't do it until after everyone, she found out because of the callbacks. I talked her out of it, saying I wasn't doing them with you."
" I know. I heard."
Ryan flushed. He ran his fingers through his hair. "I'm sorry. For everything. I shouldn't have treated you like that."
He hopped over the railing, holding out his arms for a hug. I gave him a hug, burying my face in his half-zip jacket, taking in the sweet scent of his cologne.
He is so much taller than I am, it's adorable how he has to lean down to hug me. I always get hidden in him.
"You're forgiven." I said against the fleece.
I felt cold metal against my skin and realized that Ryan was putting the necklace back on. He then placed his hands on my waist.
I smiled as he planted a kiss on my lips. I pulled away, and Ryan smiled wrecklessly. He kissed me again.
"I love you so much, Princess."
"I love you too, Ryan Evans."
He grinned as we waltzed around on the balcony a little bit. "I know that something has changed, never felt this way..."
"I feel in my heart the start of something new...""Do the callbacks with me, Alana." Ryan pleaded ten minutes later. I sighed, thinking for a moment. Then, I found myself nodding.
"I'll do the callbacks." I smiled. He hugged me again, kissing my cheek. I brought Ryan in my room, filing through papers for the song lyrics I written in Chemistry class, with a bit of help from Kelsi and Gabriella. I handed them to him.
"I can't take my eyes off of you? Interesting." He hummed the notes, nodding his head, drumming his fingers on his knee, and tapping his foot. He sat down on the edge of my canopy bed and I followed suit, sitting beside him.(Third person POV)
Ryan: You never know what you're gonna feel, oh
You never see it coming, suddenly it's real
Alana: Oh, never even crossed my mind, no
That I would ever end up here tonight
Both: All things change
When you don't expect them to
No one knows
What the future's gonna do
I never even noticed
That you've been here all along
