Za'nequa
"Ma'am?" The detective said.

I then noticed I was staring at a blank wall.

I slowly turned my head towards him.

"Are you okay?" He asked and I nodded slowly.

"Can you tell me what happened? "He asked.

"I told yall I don't know what happened. "I said and he looked at me.

"Well tell me what happened that lead to the shooting. "He said sipping his coffee.

"He took our kids and we got in an agreement.." I said.

"About what?" He asked.

"About my him leaving us." I said.

"Why'd he leave?" He asked.

"Because he said my friend is always in our business and he don't like it." I said and he nodded writing on his paper.

"What else." He asked.

"He said something to her and she got mad and left..m Everything he says something it hurts her feelings and she leaves.. Me and him argued and- and I told him I hate him." I said then begin to cry.

"What is you and Keylon's relationship status and how is it?" He asked while writing.

"We're married. We were happy until a day ago." I said trying to hold in my tears.

"Okay so does Ja'la hate Keylon?" He asked and I looked at him like he was crazy.

"No all Ja'la ever wanted was a brother sister relationship with him but he doesn't like her." I said and he nodded.

He thanked me for my time and let me go.

I walked to my car and signed holding back the tears. The kids were with Ja'la at the hospital waiting for Keylon results.

I pulled my phone to the Aux cord. And the song that played made me cry.

This was Keylon's favorite song.

I wiped my tears and drove off. Here I was while my husband was fighting for his life.

I walked inside the hospital and went to find Ja'la. I found her at the machine.

"Hey babe." She said smiling.

"Hey." I said softly.

"How you holding up." She asked.

"Ja'la please." I said and she looked at me.

"Here go eat your snacks over there. "She told the kids and the walked to the waiting area where we could see them.

"What?" She asked.

"We can't hold this up anymore. "I said as tears rolled down my eyes.

"What the fuck you mean!?" She asked.

"Ja'la you heard me... My husband is fighting for his life.. And I've been nothing but bad to him this whole entire marriage." I said.

"But he doesn't know Nequa he doesn't so why make something bad?" She asked.

"Ja'la I need to be there for him if he makes it." I said and she laughed.

"Nequa I'm trying to be here for you and your treating me like shit." She spat and walked away.

I slid down the machine crying. I cried for Keylon, I cried for my kids, I cried for Ja'la... I cried for cheating on Keylon for all these years.

I walked over to the bathroom and leaned over the sink.

I had to get myself together for Nequa sake.

I walked out to the waiting room and Nequa was talking to the doctor I walked towards her. But the doctor walked away and she was crying.
