Lauren woke up to be met with big golden eyes staring at her.

"Good morning." Lauren husked. Camila looked away quickly.

"Morning." She rasped. She got up and put her blanket in the small chest. She noticed the blue hoodie and a small smile tugged at her lips.

"Are you leaving?" Lauren asked, getting up. Camila didn't say anything and walked out again. Lauren rubbed at her eyes and followed her.

They got to a small, broken down house and Lauren wondered why they were there. Camila peeled through and looked around. She exhaled loudly and walked fully inside, Lauren behind her.

Camila quickly left to the bathroom and Lauren followed. Camila turned on the shower and Lauren figured she was going to take a shower. She walked out and looked around the small living room.

There were clothes and food everywhere. It reeked of beer and cigars. Is this Camila's home? Camila said she didn't have one though.

Lauren walked back inside the bathroom and sat on the counter, waiting.

"I'm coming out." Lauren heard and she turned around. She could hear her own heart beating loudly in her ears.

They walked out of the bathroom and Camila quickly made herself a sandwich. She later then packed a few things in her backpack and she was done for.

"I thought you said you didn't have a home." Lauren said, once they were outside. Camila looked back at the house and breathed out; she looked back at Lauren.

"That's not my home." She said quietly and walked. Lauren frowned. She followed Camila and wondered what they would do today.

"Why aren't you at school?" Camila broke the silence a few minutes later.

"I didn't want to go today." Lauren replied. Camila shrugged and crawled through the small hole like she had been for the passed years. Lauren followed suit and they were soon on the rooftop.

"Is this all you ever do?" Lauren asks. Camila nods and looks out into the city of New York. Lauren bites her bottom lip.

"I want to know more about you." She says. Camila doesn't look at her, just keeps staring ahead.

"What is there to know?" Camila breathed out. Lauren thinks.

"I don't know. Was that your home back there? Who do you live with? Where's your family?" She carefully asks the last part.

Camila knew this was coming.

"They're dead." She says. Lauren silently gasps. Camila pulls her knees up to her chin and rests on top of them.

"Do you live alone?" Lauren asks. Camila shakes her head and waits a few minutes to answer.

"I live with my abusive uncle." She said. Lauren's heart was really just going to fail her right there. She didn't ask anymore questions

Instead, she scooted closer to Camila and laid her head on her shoulder.
Camila didn't pull away.

The next morning, Camila woke up and Lauren wasn't there.

Oddly and strangely, she missed her presence. The brown eyed girl went back to the house and did what she did every single morning. Take a shower, eat something, and pack a few things into her backpack.

It was her everyday routine.

She had a few money left from the time she had stolen it from her uncle. She walked into the Cafe and ordered her small coffee.

Camila walked out, satisfied with her coffee. She walked the different way again, so she could look at the wall full of drawings.

After that, she went to the only place she knew. The rooftop.

Camila listened to music while she smoked and read her book. She heard the metal door open.

She didn't show it but she was a bit happy that she was finally here.

"Hey." Lauren sat next to her and took out another meal for Camila. This time Camila shared it with her.

"Were you at school?" Camila asked with a mouthful of food. Lauren chuckled.

"Yeah, I was. I missed you."

Camila's heart flipped.

"Me too." She smiled. Lauren's stomach fluttered and she smiled back.

Maybe this would turn out all good.

"What do you like to do all day? Doesn't it get boring doing the same thing every single day?" Lauren asked.

"No, I like to eat bananas." Camila shrugged like if that were the correct answer and plopped a fry into her mouth. Lauren laughed.

"Bananas are cool." She said. Camila scoffed.

"Of course they are. They are the most coolest thing on earth." She said. Lauren laughed again and Camila looked at her adoringly.

Is this what living finally feels like?
