Lauren waited after school on the rooftop but the small girl never came. She started pacing around and she started to get worried.
"What if something happened to her? Should I go over there? Maybe he did something." Lauren kept asking herself. The big metal door opened and her head quickly snapped to the direction of the sound.
There she was, standing at the door. She looked dead almost.
Lauren ran to her.
"Camila, are you okay?? What happened?" She asked in a rush. Camila gave her a weak smile and looked down at her side, above her ribs. Lauren followed her gaze and gasped.
Camila's side was bleeding.
"What the fuck happened?" Lauren's shaky voice asked. Camila didn't answer.
"Did he do this?" Lauren looked into the small girl's eyes.
"Camila, answer me."
"Yes." Camila said in a small voice. Lauren carefully helped her lay on the blanket on the ground. She looked at Camila before pulling up her shirt.
It was a deep cut.
"I'm going to take you to the hospital, okay?" Lauren looked up at Camila. The brunette's eyes widened and she shook her head furiously.
"Camila, you have to!"
"No." Camila croaked. Lauren cried silently to herself.
"Take out the things..my backpack." Camila said. Lauren pulled out the things from Camila's backpack and shook her head.
"What? No, I can't stitch you up." Lauren squeaked. She was about to put the things back in the backpack, but Camila grabbed her hand and gave her a pleading look.
Lauren took a deep shaky breath and got ready.
Lauren tried to block out the cries and whimpers coming from Camila's mouth as she started sticking in the needle. She really did try too. She could feel the tears spilling down her own face.
She wrapped a bandage around the small girl's side after she was done. Lauren laid next to her and her body was trembling, her breathing uncontrollable.
She could hear Camila's shaky breathing starting to slow down.
"It'll be alright." Camila whispered. Lauren's heart hurt. Shouldn't she be the one saying that to her?
The past few weeks consisted of Lauren coming directly to the rooftop and taking care of Camila. She would feed her, read her stories, and change her bandage.
Lauren was so happy now that Camila was getting better and the cut had almost completely healed. It was a scary experience for her and she wasn't even the one with the cut.
"Trump sucks ass." Lauren mumbled, as she scrolled through her phone.
"Hell yeah." Camila puffed out, reading her book. Lauren turned to her and made the face she always makes when she sees Camila smoking.
"Does that really help?" Lauren sighed and pointed at the blunt Camila was holding. The brunette looked at the blunt in her hand and shrugged.
"It makes me feel alive."
Another strike to Lauren's heart.
"I don't have school tomorrow. Want to come over?" Lauren asked, scooting closer to Camila.
Camila's stomach fluttered. She's never been to Lauren's place.
"Sure." She gave her a small smile. Lauren smiled back and helped her get her stuff.
Lauren's apartment was pretty cute, Camila thought.
"Do you want to take a shower?" Lauren asks. Camila nods and grabs the clothes the green eyed girl hands her.
After she's showered, she looks down at the clothes Lauren gave her. It smelled like strawberries.
"I ordered pizza." Lauren tells her. Camila grabs her stomach and her tongue pokes out through her lips.
"Did you really think chickens could fly?" Camila laughed out loud moments later, smashing on her pizza.
"I was four, okay!?" Lauren laughed with her. She's never seen Camila happy before. This truly melted her heart.
"You're dumb." Camila chuckled, getting off of her chair. Her foot hit the leg of the table and she fell to the ground. Lauren busted out laughing and held on to her stomach.
"Yeah, I'm the dumb one." She laughed and wiped at her eyes. Camila quickly stood up and tried to hide her smile. She padded to the living room.
"How do you work this?" Camila called out from the living room. Lauren chuckled and shook her head before finishing her pizza and going after Camila.
"The tv, really?" Lauren was shocked. Camila shrugged and her cheeks went pink.
"It's been a long time an-"
Lauren went up to her and grabbed her hand.
"Hey, no. I get it, okay?" She said. Camila's stomach fluttered and she pulled away.
"What do you want to watch?" Lauren asks. Camila shrugs, so Lauren puts on Friends. She found her self smiling every time the small brunette would laugh at one of the stupid jokes. Lauren wasn't even watching the tv; she was too busy staring at the mysterious girl she has grown to love in the past few weeks.
It was time to go to sleep, and Camila thought it was time for her to head to the rooftop.
"Wait, you're not staying?" Lauren grabs her wrist to prevent Camila from leaving the apartment.
"It's okay." Camila says. She wasn't sure if Lauren wanted her to stay the night.
"C'mon stay, Camz." Lauren blushes when she hears herself. Camila's heart does that thing again. Where it flips and doesn't stop flipping.
"Okay." Camila smiles. She closes the door and follows Lauren into the bedroom.
Lauren didn't seem to mind that Camila was sleeping in the same bed as her.
Camila had forgotten just how good it felt to sleep on a bed. That wasn't her favorite part though. Her favorite part was the green eyed girl that was cuddling up to her.
Camila smiled to herself as she heard the small snores coming from the pale girl.
This was the best sleep she has ever had in years.
