Andrea and I went to the grocery shop and bought food that could last us a week, even more maybe since neither of us have a big appetite. We decided on not going to any food places for some time since we plan to save money for rent, taxes and such.

The whole first week of us living here consisted of buying stuff for the house, which we wasted most of our money on, we didn't have much left, very little in fact. I got a job at Forever 21 and KFC in some random mall, in the mornings I work at Forever 21, and in the afternoon I work at KFC. Andrea got a job at Target and Yogurt Land, her schedule is the same as mine. We figured it would bring us the most money. All of our time is taken up by work which brings a lot of stress and anxiety, but for right now it's going just fine.

One day at work, in KFC, a group of teenage boys came to the counter.

"Hello, I would like the bucket of chicken for 10 bucks and a large cup of coke." He said politely. He frowned immediately and looked at me weird, his eyes travelled to my name tag.

"Melanie?" He said as he got closer to my face. I studied his face for a bit.

"Jc? Oh my god hi!" I squealed as I hugged him over the counter.

"What the hell how long have you been living in LA?" He smiled wide.

"I moved just a week ago, do you live here?" He nodded.

"Wow I had no idea! I can't believe dad didn't tell me." I said.

"Hey Jc would you mind introducing us?" A curly headed boy with bright red cheeks said.

"Oh yes, of course, boys this is my step sister Melanie, Melanie, meet Kian, Ricky, Trevor, Connor and Sam." He pointed to everyone and they all put their hand to for me to shake. They all repeated their names for me, which came in handy because I totally forgot right after Jc told me. They were all wearing snapbacks except for Ricky, he had neon green sunglasses which I actually found quite ridiculous. Jc and I promised to keep in contact and definitely meet up one day. I handed them their orders and they left.

*at home*

It was quite late when I got back, but Andrea was still awake. She was drawing at the kitchen table.

"You can not even guess what happened to me at work today." I said sitting opposite of her.

"Then tell me." She smiled.

"I saw my stepbrother, he was there with a bunch of friends." I said. "You mean the one that lives in Huston?" She asked confused.

"I thought he lived there, my dad never told me anything, I should call him." I reached for my phone and dialled my dad's phone number.

M (me): Hey dad

D (dad): what the hell is it Melanie it'S 4 o'clock in the morning

M: oops, I forgot we had different time zones, but anyway, how come you never told me Justin lives in LA?

D: Oh my god, I totally forgot about that, how did you know

M: I saw him today, we talked for a bit and agreed on hanging out soon

I continued my conversation with my father, and after 20 minutes, I let him get back to sleep. I was pretty tired after that myself so I changed into my pyjamas and went to bed, leaving Andrea alone in the kitchen.
