Author's Note " Hey guys! :) I'm sorry the first chapter was kind of short, and this one might be too, but soon enough they're going to get much longer. Stay tuned!
MEMORY :
"Mommy! Mommy!"
"What is it, honey?"
"There is a bee on my swingset!"
"Oh honey, it's alright. It won't hurt you."
"Yes it will, it...it was gonna come get me!"
Mom smiles and gives me a kiss. "No it won't. Look, how about this. Come inside with me and we can bake some cookies. And then we know for sure it won't get you."
"Oh, okay!"
REALITY:
*Cough cough* Where am I? Everything was smokey, with dust in my eyes and nose. I try to get up but I feel a jolt of pain go through my left leg.
"Owww!" I scream. I try to take easy breathes to help the pain. Tears ran through my eyes. What was happening? I try to rub my eyes to get a better view of where I was. There were pieces of the building laying on my leg. The bus was across the street basically in half, but there was no one in site.
"Help! Help!" I yell trying to get someone to notice me. "Help please! Somebody!" I say between sobs. My leg was in so much pain to the point where I wanted to just pass out. I put my head against one of the rocks underneath me and try to relax my leg. No, I can't do it. It hurts way too much. I try to scream some more, "Help please! I'm stuck!" But I knew there was no use...
Later on...
"Oh my god are you okay?" I hear someone say. It sounded like a boy but my vision was so blurry I couldn't make out who it was. "Here give me your hand." I lift my hand so he can grab it. "Okay, I want you to try to pull your leg out. I'm going to push this bolder off of it." I try to pull as hard as I can practically screaming in pain. "Almost there,...just keep pulling." He says between grunts. I finally pull my leg out and he lifts me out of the hole I was in. And right then, I collapse on the hard ground.
"Thank you,...thank you." I try to say with my voice all cracky. The boy that saved me slowly came into view. He had brownish hair all messy over his big eyes. He had greyish eyes and a great jaw. To be honest, he was attractive. I think he notices me staring so I quickly looked away.
"I didn't get your name."
"Oh, uh...Lia. My name is Lia, you? He put his hands in his pockets and looked down at his feet.
"Ethan."
"Oh, cool name," I say trying to be a normal person. I suck at talking to people. I always end up making it awkward.
"Haha, yeah, you too." I finally was able to get to my feet. My leg was still in crazy pain and my breathing was still out of control, but I was able to stable myself. "You shouldn't stand up, I think you messed up your leg pretty bad."
"I need to go find my mom. She might be in danger. Where is everybody else?"
"I just got here. I was walking for a few hours since the storm happened."
"So, I've been out for hours?" That couldn't have been right. "Anyways, how do you know it's a storm?"
"I don't, but it seemed like it. I was in my dad's car when it happened waiting for him while he was in the store. Everything just started shaking, and I don't know what happened next. I was out in a second, but I remember waking up still in his car in the middle of the road all torn up." He pointed to the scars on his arms and legs. He did look beaten up, I wonder if I looked the same.
"Oh god, I'm sorry. I'm sure your worried sick about your dad."
"Yeah, I am, just like you." He said giving me a sad smile. "Anyways, we need to get out of here, who knows when this could happen again."
"Okay, but where would we go?" He looks across the road,
"I saw a standing building a few miles away, it seems to be pretty stable. We can stay there for the night until we know what to do next. And maybe there is sight of survival there as well." All I could think of was my mom. Where was she? She must be worried sick, or even hurt. My eyes started to tear up but I looked away.
"Okay," I say clearing my throat. "Sounds good."
