Once we woke up, we started walking some more. Our main goal was to find signs of survival but we have had almost zero luck so far. It felt odd not being with my mom for more than a day. I'm always with her unless I'm at friends, but at least then I know where she is. Right now, I had no clue. Thinking about that gave me a headache.
"Were farther away from town, so it might be harder to find resources." He says. He was right, we were on the highway far from downtown.
"How is going farther away from town going to help us find survival? If they wanted to survive don't you think they'd be where there are more resources and buildings?
"Yeah, but if they're taken like we think, then do you really think whoever took them kept them in town? Or took them far away from it?"
"True." That is if they are taken I thought.
We walked most of the day taken a few breaks here and there. We ate barely half of the food that we brought. I don't think either of us had an appetite to eat. Even though we still had a good portion of food left, we were going to need to find more.
"Do you know how to hunt?" I ask.
"Not really."
"We're going to need to get more food, and if we have to, we're going to have to hunt."
"Hunting in the middle of the highway? Oh okay, Lia."
"No, I mean there's trees," I say pointing to the sides of the highway. "I'm sure there's squirrels, deer, birds..."
"I don't know, let's see if we find anywhere to stop first, maybe they'll have food." He says. We both knew that by the time there is an exit off the highway, we'll be walking for a long time.
"Okay." I say grabbing a stale bagel out of the bag.
