Chapter 6

Confrontation

I was finding it really hard to concentrate on the math. I couldn’t wait to confront Sam. With every second that passed by I was getting even more restless. Why would he treat me like that? I didn’t even know what I did was so wrong. I will talk to him in the cafeteria during break. That’s the only way I can understand what it is that’s going through his mind.

There were 15 minutes to break. It was pointless to stare at the clock in front of the classroom. Staring made the clock tick slower. Suddenly I raised my hand up in the air, which made Sara do a head jerk as though I was about to hit her. The teacher looked around and said, “Yes, Ms. Jenna Would you like me to repeat the equation for you?”

“No, I need to go to the toilet, it’s kind of urgent.” I gave a weak smile.

“Oh, Ok… Here is your pass…” With that she handed me a blue card which I barley looked at and ran out of the class. Sam was not in class and I had no idea where to find him. I kept running through every open door I could possibly see. Where could Sam be at this moment? Suddenly my phone rang and I received a text. It was from Sara.

“He’s in the football stadium… J… ttyl”

I quickly texted her saying thanks and started making my way to the grounds. There were only 5 minutes left to bell. I really need to be alone with him, and he better explain his behavior.

I got there and started looking around the field, it was completely empty except for a group of students practicing their bands, walking around with drums and big shinny trumpets.

I looked around even harder and the on the stands I saw a distant figure bulging on what looked like a school bag. I quickly ran over to him ignoring all the weird feelings that were starting to come back to me as Sam got closer.

“Hey…” I said breathless.

He looked up and did something weird with his eye brows. He was giving me the Dwayne Johnson look.(The Rock : WWE Super Star)

“What are you doing here?”

“I … I ….. Sam why did you walk away from me like that…?” He got a bit restless and looked away from me.

“Sam you need to tell me is everything okay? I don’t understand, did I do something wrong? I mean if you don’t want to be lab partner’s with me then I can totally understand… I really suck at chemistry…”

Sam looked up at me and started laughing his guts off. “Why would you think I didn’t want to be your lab partner…?”

“Well because you just ran off after the bell and didn’t show up for any off the classes…”

“Look Jenna, Trust me this has nothing to do with you. I have gone through a lot these past couple of weeks. I don’t expect you to know it all and understand it.”

“Then tell me Sam, help me understand. I might not know how to make it all better but I can sure ease the pain for you, isn’t that what friends are for.”

He hung his head and gave a weak smile.

“I will Jenna but not now… trust me when the right time comes ill share it all with you.”

“Hmmmm… okay so how about some lunch…I am starving … I’ll buy…”

Sam looked up at me and shook his head. “You really don’t know when to give up, do you…? One condition; I’ll pay for it.”

With that we started walking towards the cafeteria. I wasn’t going to give up that easy, but I could also see that Sam was not ready to talk about it. I received another text from Sara:
