It's Wednesday. Today I'm going to see who I match with for my one dollar valentine, Reagan said she hopes that I end up with Alex, but I know that won't happen, I'm A good girl, he is a rule breaker.
Alex texted me and said he would give me a ride to school today. So obviously I agreed, I waited outside for him, I waited in my porch for only about 3 seconds before he showed up, "You never fail to impress me." He yelled out the window before he unlocked his car door. "Alex, I now declare you the weirdest person I know." I said As I got in his car. He could hold back a smile "Laney Strikes, I now declare you the prettiest person I know." . I couldn't help but blush, that comment made my heart melt.
It's Spring, We are almost at school and I was hoping for any possible chance to kiss him, then I got and idea.
We pulled into the school parking, I impatiently got out of his car. "Hey Alex, my hand is pretty cold, can you warm me up?" I said, I know, it's cringe but it works for me.
He grasped my hand as we walked into school, his head held high. "It's almost time for first period." I said "Oh, and thanks for walking me to my locker." "Oh , no problem." He said while starting to walk away.
I was walking to Chemistry then I seen the Softball sheet. "Oh. Laney want to join the softball team?" The Softball team captain, Della said as she seen me staring at the paper . "Oh.." I said . Then I immediately thought of what Alex said earlier. "Sure." Della handed me a pen. I quickly signed my name on the paper

"Thanks for signing up, meet me at the field after lunch ." She said . I was having a mini panic attack , so I kept reminding myself of Alex. I'm doing this for Alex. Only for Alex.
On my way to 3rd period I made sure to get my one dollar valentine. I walked up to Reagan at the desk "Reagan, I need it now, please. I have been waiting all day." I said "Well, Laney you came just in time because my shift of this is almost over." She printed out a paper with a few names on it

It was 2 o'clock and time for Softball. I put on my black leggings and my t shirt that read Gordonville Tigers Here us roar!!
I slicked my hair back into a tight ponytail, it's game time. Since it's so sunny out we are practicing on the field
When I got there the other girl were practicing already.
"Hey Laney! You can practice with Emma over here." Della said as I entered the field.
I looked up to see Alex on the risers cheering. I also seen Della staring at Me, disgusted.
Della walked up to me "Laney, why is Alex here?" she asked. She was blushing, you could tell she liked him. "I -- wait do you like him?" I asked "Don't be dumb Laney," she replied, you could tell she was losing her patience. "Listen, I'm sorry you have a crush on him, I'm sorry I really am but I'm not going to pity to you because of it." I said, I ran off of the field with tears streaming down my face. Now I KNOW I don't have a chance with him. If a popular athlete likes him there is no way.
I ran home and collapsed on my bed. I threw my phone against the wall of my purple walls,
I eventually cried myself to sleep.
