I'm numb. Everything just becomes a blur. I can't think. I know we are in a car driving, and Daniel tries to talk some sense into me, but I just can't.
After a few minutes, we arrive at a house and Daniel helps me out since I'm making no effort at all. He grabs me by the shoulders and makes me face him. "Claire, you're starting to freak me out. You need to say something now before I slap you, or something." He threatens.
Offened, I just snap back. "Don't you dare touch me, Lane."
The door opens to reveal a middle aged woman.
"Daniel?" The woman asks in surprise, "Who's this? Is everything okay?" Daniel guides me inside, and places me on a brown leather couch.
After that I have completely and utterly shut everything out. Everything right now has no sense and is not registering in my brain. A few minutes or hours later, reality starts to settle around me. I'm in a foggy state but I can't handle being left in he dark anymore.
"What's happening?" I mumble, barely audible.
"It's okay, we'll explain later. Right now I need you not to worry so we can get you safe." Daniel tries to say calmly.
I stand in pure determination. "No." I state. "I'm not going anywhere until someone tells me what's going on in the simplest way. You can explain details later. Just..ugh..Daniel?" I plead.
"Okay," Daniel says honestly. "I'm taking you out in the country. It's pretty isolated, but there's a building where you'll take classes. It's safe there."
"But why are you taking me there?" I pry further.
"Claire," Daniel says, "someone's trying to kill you."
Me? What? Why? How? Never mind, I don't want to know how. Words in my throat seemed to be caught, and I couldn't ask any questions. "Oh." I finally get out. That's great Claire, now he's going to think you don't care.
"Paige is getting your stuff packed for the leave." He said and then stands up.
"Pack? Well how long are we staying there?!" I'm a bit mad now. I mean, he can't just tell me what to do!
"You need to train." He says simply, and starts to drag me back to his vehicle. Against my will I might add.
"Train to do what?" I ask while he tries to put on my seatbelt. I hit is hand and shove him to his seat. Then I put on my own seatbelt.
"Isn't it obvious?" He says putting the keys in the ignition and pulling out of the driveway. "Training not to die." He says with a smile. He looks over at me and laughs at my expression. I cross my arms over my chest and look out the window. Sooner rather than later, sleep consumes me before I could have hit Daniel again.
------------------------------------
I'm running. I can't stop, and I'm not going to. I can't let them catch me, if I do..I'm dead.
I look back but there's nothing but the dark woods I've running in and my foot got caught in a tree root and I fall, my hands stoping my face from hitting the ground. I quickly scramble up and resume running.
An abandon house looms up into my field of vision, it's white walls are dark like if they have been burnt, and the lawn looks like it hasn't been cut in ages. Why am I here? To me it seems awfully familiar but my mind just can't place it.
Making my way up the cracked cement stairs that lead to front door I hesitate. Something tells me it's not a good idea. i ignore that annoying feeling and slowly turn the ice cold door knob, the door creeks open and a knife flies over to me and hits my stomach.
