It was time to go back to school, and I was not ready at all. There were so many new people that I have met, well, have actually spoken with.
"Welcome back class, today we'll be..." My teachers voice faded out as I began to zone out. So much has happened and all I can think about is Tracy.
Tracy is so beautiful. God, maybe too beautiful. Oh no, what if I start thinking she's too good for me and then suddenly everything is ruined? Okay... Tairus, deep breaths.
"Tairus, what on Earth are you doing?" The teacher asked. "If you're having trouble breathing, just tell us or step out into the hall!"
Was I really breathing that loud?
"Sorry... I won't do it again."
The teacher stares at me, and then goes back to teaching. I wonder what they're talking about, I have no clue. I'm not paying attention real well.
The announcements came on, and it grabbed my attention. Damn! This sucks.
"Hello, teachers and students. Don't forget that we have our prom coming up and we'd love it if you guys came! It's $10 per person, and if you enter for our couples contest, you get a prize!" (Let's pretend that all grades can go to prom.)
We all rolled our eyes and clapped as the principal stopped talking.
"So, who are you taking?" I hear a couple kids say.
"I'm not sure yet, who should I go with?" Were some replies.
My phone vibrates as the class settled down. I didn't even recognize the number until I realized it had the name "Tracy" on top of it. When did I give her my number, or, when did she give me hers?
Tracy: Are you going to prom?
Me: I'm not sure yet. I might. Are you?
Tracy: If I don't work. I probably will end up going.
"Tairus, what are you doing? Are you on your phone?"
Uh oh.
"Uh... Yes! I'm messaging my mom! It's urgent, I promise. My little brother got really hurt and she's making sure I know." I really hope she doesn't notice how my hands are getting sweaty from being so nervous.
"... Alright. But, please, do tell me this first next time."
I let out a deep breath we I told Tracy I had to go.
It was now a few hours later and I was in bed, trying desperately to understand my homework. What even is this? Didn't we read this Freshman year?
"Tairus, Tracy is here!" Mom yelled, and I jumped up out of bed, ran a comb through my hair and made sure I looked presentable.
"Hi!" I hugged Tracy close to me and she hugged back tightly. "You look amazing."
I cover my mouth, face red. Oh my god, I can't believe I let that out of my mouth.
"Aw.. thanks! You look amazing as well."
She gives me a peck on my cheek and I can hear my mom giggle. God, what a dork.
"Keep your bedroom open! I don't want anything happening back there."
I gave a thumbs up and we headed back to my room. There, we both sat on my bed and just was silent.
A few minutes go by and Tracy and I stare at each other. Not sure what to do, or even say.
"So... How was your day?" Breaking the awkward silence took a lot of guts, thankfully I was full of them.
"It was great, actually. Nothing happened, which is just fine. H-"
"Will you go to prom with me?" I didn't even mean to say it, but I did.
"W-what? Of course, yeah!"
We hug again, and suddenly her lips are on mine.
In shock, I wasn't sure what to do. How am I supposed to react to being kissed?
Tracy quickly pulled away, running a hand through her hair. I could see that she was nervous, and I didn't know what to say to try and help.
"Sorry about that... I was in the moment-"
I grab her my the gave and mash my lips onto her own. Suddenly, my butterflies in my stomach to have flown away.
It seemed as though her face got warmer the more I held it, and her heat was what I needed. My coldness attached to her warmth.
"Tairus, Tracy di-I-I-INNER OKAY UM." Mom suddenly interrupts us, and we quickly separate and stare at her while she stands there, mouth agape.
"Mom I-"
"Just come out and eat... Don't say anything, and I won't either." Tracy and I nod as we hold hands and walk down to the dining room table, where my father sits, talking on the phone. Maybe to a friend?
"Oh, Tairus, your brother won't be joining us, he's at his friends." My mom puts down a plate infront of me, and I nod. I look over to Tracy, squeezing her hand with a smile on both of our faces.
"So, are you going to prom with one another?" My father suddenly asked, putting away his phone.
"Uh... Yes sir." Tracy responded, and watched my every move.
"Yeah... We're going together. I asked her." I kissed Tracy on the cheek and her face is suddenly a cherry, sweet, like her.
"Well, that's good. It's good to get out there!" My father smiles as mom places down a feast infront of us all.
She sits down at her own seat as we all dig in, and suddenly, my eyes widen as I see something infront of me.
Why are there two strings appearing from my hand, one to Tracy, and one that seems to leave my home?
That's the end of the first book!! Yup, I'm making this a series! How do you think this went?
