Protective(Barba)

  Being a well respected lawyer was no easy task, especially on these controversial cases. Barba often has to have a security detail, due to angry family members and public. So when you tug along to support him and the fellow SVU detectives in a particularly public case, Rafael was nervous for your safety. There were people lined up outside, holding signs, saying the rapist(a well known tv producer) was innocent and a bunch of rude things. Of course, Barba proved he was guilty, and you sat beside Nick, proud after he wins the case and the sicko gets taken into custody. He packs up and meets you guys by the door. You smile at him, knowing he likes to keep from touching in public, and congratulate your boyfriend on another successful case. He looks at Nick, standing close to you, and takes your hand, pulling you to stand close to him. "Let's get out of here." He mumbles and you all begin making your way out of the courthouse. You can already hear the commotion outside as the security detail begins to circle around you guys. Rafael pulls you close to stand behind his back as you step outside. It's loud and the police are fighting back the mob. You duck your head and follow them carefully. His grip on your hand is tight as he makes a quick statement that Justice was served and heads off. You ignore the comments of the crowd and follow closely, feeling Nick's band on your back protecting you as well. You hear your name called out by some press which distracts you from walking quickly. "Y/N! How do you feel about your boyfriend locking up an innocent man?!" "Y/N are you and Rafael Barba engaged?!" "Y/N is it true you're trying to get publicity dating a lawyer?!" You feel rage boiling up inside of you. He runs your knuckle reassuringly as you near the car. You feel someone tug your hair and you're almost knocked over. You yelp, and in an instant you're pulled away from Rafael and Nick. You can't tell what's going on except you're being pushed around a lot. You hear Nick holler and Rafael frantically grabs your waist pulling you against him. Security begins yelling to back away and closing around you guys. Nick puts a hand on your shoulder and keeps them away. Finally you guys make it to the car and Rafael guides you in, a firm hand on your waist. You exhale a sigh in relief as you're all in the car and ready to leave. "Are you okay?" Rafael asks, hand on your thigh as he looks for any scratches on you. "I'm fine." You reassure him and he sighs. "Animals, sometimes I hate the freedom to protest." He mumbles and you squeeze his hand and smile lightly. "You did good today. As usual." He smiles a sad smile at you and you guys head home.
