I had been in this cell for an hour since I awoke. I sat on a shabby bed near stone walls with the lights off.
The distant sound of familiar barking was the only break the dense silence. It was Jack, but I had given up talking to him, it only made his barking more frantic and distressed. Then foot steps echoed near my cell, I was stiff with fear, all I wanted was to leave this horrid place. But I was to fearful to cry or even yell, I was scared into silence.
A small light flicked on outside, but only enough to reveal a dark man with yellow goggles and a gas mask. "You Asryi? " He asked.
I nodded stiffly my eyes stinging from the light. "Alright, uh, time for the vaccines " He said his voice muffled by the mask.
He seem to be waiting for something, so I slid off the little bed and walked stiffly up to the cell bars. I had been changed into white shorts and a white shirt, both soft and cheap, I felt cold standing here.
The man reached in and roughly yanked me to the bars so my arm was straining out under the warm light. He pulled out a syringe and poked it into a small green vein. I winced at the burning sensation, and then shuttered as something entered my bloodstream.
"What was that ?" I asked worried. My voice was hoarse from lack of water and high pitched worth anxiousness.
"Tracker, and a few medications that will make you unable to lie " He said bluntly.
"Where am I ? Will I ever be released ? Isn't this illegal? " I asked frantically craving more answers.
He shook his head and walked off the light switching off. But as I stood there, in darkness and silence, I noticed the sound of barking had stopped---
Hours pass, my mind starves for answers and my body for food. I worry about my family, Maybe they think I ran away for real this time. I wonder of Jack and what they are doing to him, or have done.
It takes a long while before lights flash on and the gates open. Guards dressed in black uniforms crowd to exit with a small space of escape, but a tall woman with long black hair and dim yellow stained skin stands a there a few inches back from the general circle of guards.
Her eyes are slanted and it gives her a snake like look, her red thin lips pull up in a smile. "Come dear Asryi we have lunch waiting for you" She says in a silken voice. I stand and blink nervously my hands trembling as I push my fingers to the wall for minor support. "I am Mrs.Jackson, but you can call me Lady Sweet for the irony " She said her voice impatient. I walked out of the cell into the light and she turns and leads the way along the stone floor down a hall.
I pass many screen glass doors, inside are animals who look fearful. In the last door before we round the corner I stop in my tracks. Guns are drawn and pointed at me. I dont flinch, my eyes are on Jack, the massive German Shepherd who stood near the glass peering up at me with blue eyes. They were different, not vacant and happy like a dog, but emotional and intelligent like a human. I felt Mt heart flutter with curiosity and unease. "Jack ?" I say just above a whisper. The dog perks his ears and wags, barking once.
"Com along !" Snapped Lady Bitch. I turned back and walked along the dark hall under we were in a large room that looked like typical school lunch room.
Guards at every exit and the lunch lady was muscled and had tattoos of birds all along her arms. Birds with teeth and crinkled feathers.
I glanced over at the tables and saw above 10 teens may age more or less, sitting at a single table in the middle of the room. The floor was marble and the ceiling coveted in tiny camera heads that wiggled with the movement of whoever they were tracking.
I was pushed roughly forward after a second of observation and turn to dash out but the large white doors close and lock, the small square windows on each one over with black tape.
