Kitsune's POV
It's been a week and a half since the festival. This might be the lady where I say that I'm doing better since my anxiety attack, but I wasn't. For the past few nights, I've been having nonstop nightmares about humans attacking me.
During those nights, I managed to scream myself awake while in some nights, I don't sleep at all.
So, in other words, I'm suffering from insomnia. I'm afraid to doze off even for a second because of the nightmares. To keep myself awake, I've been taking long walks into the woods. In fact, that's what I'm doing right now.
I was slowly dragging my feet across the ground as I walked aimlessly through the woods. My head was lowered as I struggled to keep my eyes open. I closed my eyes for a second and I bumped into a tree. I sleepily frowned and looked at the tree I had bumped into.
"Fucking tree... getting in my fucking way..." I mumbled. I walked around it, then started walking again only to fall into a pond. Now I was definitely awake. "Goddammit!" I yelled out in frustration. "Are you okay, Kitsune?"
I looked up as Menma stood in front of me. "Yeah... I'm fine." I grumbled. Menma took my hand and pulled me out of the pond. "Come on, let's dry you off." He said. I slowly nodded my head and followed him inside.
Menma's POV
As I dried Kitsune's hair, I noticed how she was nodding on and off again, like she was trying to stay awake. "Kitsune, if you're that tired, why don't you go ahead and take a nap?" I suggested. "No, I'm fine! I don't wanna go to sleep!" She suddenly yelled.
"Um... okay?" I said with a raised brow. I got done drying her hair and she started to wobbly walk outside. "You're going on another walk?" I asked. "Uh-huh..." She answered with a nod. "Ahh!" Kitsune quickly hid behind the wall.
Okay... Now, I'm really confused. "Kitsune, why are you hiding?" I asked.
"You don't see them?"
"See who?"
"Humans! They're right there!"
I looked outside to see no one standing there. "Kitsune, there's nobody there. Look." I said. Kitsune looked outside and her ears twitched. "Huh? Oh... right. Looks like my eyes are playing tricks on me," Kitsune rubbed her eyes, then yawned.
"I'm gonna go to my room for a bit." She said, heading down the hall. She's definitely not doing okay. It must be from that anxiety attack she had a week back in the festival. Her attack must've been worse than I thought. She's starting to hallucinate. I should try talking to her.
I went to go to Kitsune's room, but I spotted her already walking towards me. Her head was lowered as her hair covered her eyes. "Where are you going?" I asked. "Outside." She answered. "I thought you said you were going to hang out in your room for a bit?" I said.
"I changed my mind. I decided I want to walk around for a while." Her words slurred a little when she said that.
She walked past me and headed outside. Maybe I should try talking to her some other time.
The next day, I couldn't find Kitsune anywhere in the hideout, so I could only assume she went outside for a walk.
I waited for about two hours and she hasn't come back. I started to get worried. 'What could she be doing?' I thought. I went outside the hideout and started searching for Kitsune. I called out her name as I looked for her, but I didn't hear a response.
Walking further and further away from the hideout, I noticed I was in one part of the woods where I haven't explored yet. "Where the hell is she?" I mumbled. I continued to walk a bit further until I spotted a familiar girl with fox ears on her head near a river.
