It's been three days since the Menma brought me back and I've been kind of avoiding Menma as much as I can. It was only a matter of time until he throws me out.

Afraid he would kick me out sooner than expected, I began training my ass off outside the temple to live up to his expectations. I even pushed past my limit a few times and passed out on the grass.

"Kitsune."

"Hmm?"

"What are you doing?"

"What does it look like?"

"Well... It looks like you're trying to make yourself pass out."

I hung upside down on a tree branch as I stared at Menma while he stared back at me. "I'm just thinking to myself." I said. "Having the blood rush to your head isn't always a good idea." He said. "Yeah, right," I said, rolling my eyes. "I'm capable of keeping it together. This is a piece... of... cake..."

My words were starting to slur as I felt groggy. "Ugh... What...?" My legs let go of the branch and fell off the tree until Menma quickly caught me in his arms. "Told you it wasn't a good idea." Menma said.

"Yeah, shut up..." I said, groggily. I shook my head hard until I knew I was okay "Let go of me. I can walk on my own."

I pushed him away and landed on my feet in the grass, heading back inside the temple.

Menma's POV

There's something definitely wrong with Kitsune. She's been acting strange ever since Madara came by. I need to talk with her.

I followed Kitsune inside the temple and she went straight to her room, shutting the door. "Kitsune, we need to talk." I said, knocking on her door. "Not right now. I'm tired." She said. I rolled my eyes, thinking she was lying, and opened the door.

But Kitsune was quickly asleep as the blanket was pulled over her. I narrowed my eyes at her, thinking she was faking it. I walked over to her and stood by her bedside. "Kitsune?" I said, shaking her shoulder.

But she didn't wake up. I guess she really is tired. I left her room and closed the door behind me.

Kitsune's POV

I pretended to be asleep as Menma was waking me up. Once I heard him leave, I opened my eyes and sat up. The thought of him throwing me out in the woods made me scared, so I hugged my knees to my chest as my hair covered my eyes.

"I'm gonna end up alone again..." I whispered.

During dinner, I hardly ate as I was worried Menma would open his mouth and tell me I need to leave. "Kitsune!" I flinched when he called out my name loudly and looked at him. "Yes?" I asked. "There you are. You were spacing out again. What are you thinking about?" Menma asked.

"Nothing." I said, quickly. "Kitsune, we need to talk." Menma said.

"No, we don't."

"Yes, we do. You've been acting strange ever since Madara arrived and you've been avoiding me."

"So?"

"Are you afraid of me? Afraid I might hurt you?"

"What?! Of course not!"

"Then, why are you avoiding me?"

"I'm not!"

"You are. Whenever I try talking to you, you disappear to your room."

"So what?! That doesn't mean anything!"

Menma stared at me before closing his eyes with a sigh. "You're so complicated sometimes." He mumbled. "Then, why don't you get rid of me like you wanted?!" I snapped at him. "Get rid of you? Why the hell are you talking about?" Menma asked.

"Don't play dumb with me, Menma! I heard you and Madara talking! You're planning on getting rid of me!"

"What? Kitsune, you misheard. I'm not getting rid of you."

"Bullshit!"

"Just let me explain."

"You don't need to explain anything! I don't wanna hear your lies! I should've known you were just like the rest of them. You're no different from the people of the Leaf!"

"You're talking nonsense. Just calm down."

I glared at him as my hands balled into tight fists. "Quit talking to me like I'm some kind of a child!" I yelled, throwing my food at him. Menma shielded himself with one arm and glared at me as I continued to glare back at him.

Before I could say something, Menma grabbed my wrist and tugged me down the hall. "Hey, let go of me! Let go, Menma!" I shouted. He ignored me as he continued to drag me down the hall.

My eyes widened when I realized Menma was probably gonna hit me for yelling and throwing my food at him. I quickly closed my eyes  to save myself from seeing his angry face and from the abuse I was about to receive.

I screamed out in fear when I was thrown onto a bed. I expected to get hit or something, but instead, I was embraced. "Huh?" I slowly opened one of my eyes, then both of them when I saw that Menma was gently hugging me.

"Kitsune, I would never try to get rid of you." Menma said. "Yeah, right! Don't joke with me!" I yelled, trying to shove him away. But Menma grabbed my hands and pinned them above my head.

I was wrong. I think this is the part when he beats me. I quickly closed my eyes again, waiting for the beating to begin. "Open your eyes and look at me." Menma said. I shook my head as I kept my eyes closed tightly. "Just get it over with already." I said.

"Get what over with?" Menma asked. "You know what I'm taking about. Just beat me up and get it over with. That's what you're planning to do, right?" I said. "You're being silly. I would never beat you." He replied.

"Hmph." I frowned slightly, thinking that he was bluffing. But my eyes instantly snapped open when Menma gently kissed my forehead. He released my hands and hugged me again.

"I was never going to follow through with Madara's plan of getting rid of you, Kitsune. I could never bring myself to do that. These past few days, you've become important to me. I want to be able to protect you from whatever danger that comes your way. So, don't go talking crazily that I would throw you out in the woods." Menma said, gently.

"But... Your rules. If I ever went against your rules, you said you'd throw me out without a second thought. You also said that you meant it." I reminded him.

"I only said that so it would be easier for you to obey me. I didn't think it would scare you this much to the fact you'll start thinking false things. I guess what I'm saying is... I never planned to throw you out in the first place." Menma admitted.

"Menma, you bully..." I mumbled as I buried my face into his chest, trying to hold back my sobs. "You're a big bully. That's so mean."

"I know. I'm sorry." Menma said, hugging me again. I hugged him back, my eyes closed tightly.

I don't ever want to leave Menma's side. He's the only one who's been nice to me and treated me like I'm somebody who matters. Why couldn't I have been found by him first than those humans who claimed that they "loved" me?

If I had found Menma first instead of them, I wouldn't have shut away my eyes in the first place. Menma is the only one who is allowed to see me with my eyes open. The rest of the humans... they can be shut out of my life for all I care.
