If there is nothing else, there are many a caves in Kalos. So of course, young Cree (or not so young at this point) made her way there to continue her life of intense exploration.
It was in Kalos that her life took another huge change. She was just walking, minding her own business, when she ran into this guy. He asked her if she wanted to hold on to this egg-- Pokemon egg and of course she said yes. The bond she had with Abbie and Franky made the idea of having another Pokemon on her team exciting. It was another thing for her to love and another thing to love her.
While caring for the egg made her think of home and the family that she left behind for her own ambitions and then that doubt started to settle in as it did when she started this journey. However these thoughts never stopped her from loving this egg with her everything. Cree didn't want kids (or didn't think she did) and she liked living life as a hiker. As a trainer? Not so much. Here she was in her twenties and still no idea what to do with her life.
When Jess hatched it brought Cree so much joy. The idea of seeing a Pokemon hatch from an egg that she had doted on and carried for so long; it made her think. It made her think about what it was she was doing with her life and the people that she met and left in order to get at this moment, looking at a tiny Fletchling that she helped bring into this world. She wanted to see this kind of thing happen more often and she amazingly decided to do something that she never thought she would.
This epiphany was what brought her to Celeste Isle. The daycare on Sandrose needed some help and she was more than willing. Maybe the owner knew that and was hoping that he could find someone to take his place at the daycare. So Cree worked hard and other than the more rambunctious Pokemon it wasn't really work. Caring for baby Pokemon, finding abandoned Pokemon homes, hatching eggs, and helping trainers that just needed someone to take care of their Pokemon on the short/long term was by no means an easy job. But Cree was really damn good at it and the owner could see that. So when the time came for him to retire, who else was he going to pass the daycare onto other than Cree. No one else working there at the time had that natural chemistry that she did with the Pokemon. No one else could do the job better than Cree.
As for Jess, he is definitely the most mischievous little creature that Cree has hatched. It seemed as if the little bird (or not so little anymore since he evolved into a Fletchinder) liked to get into all kinds of trouble. From harassing neighbors to people that lived all the way in Mythril and Amethyst; Cree has had just about enough of this boy's bad behavior.
