Happy reading😊
I was getting ready in a yellow saree and flower jewellery as my mother and aunt has always wished for me, and in the mean time my mother and aunts were busy grinding black mustard seeds and turmeric on the grinding stone (silwata) as a ritual by singing some traditional song.
After grinding the mustard and turmeric they mixed mustard oil, coconut oil, milk and ganga jal (Ganges water) in it.
After all this done I was called out of my room for the ritual. It was started by my mother who dipped nine stems of grasses (dhubi) and started applying from my toes to upward directions. It goes like my toes then (➡) ankles ➡ knees ➡waist ➡ fingers➡ palm➡ end length of my hair➡ elbows➡ mid length of my hairs➡ shoulders➡ chin➡ cheeks➡ nose ➡ forehead ➡ and finally my roots of the hair. Same was done by my other aunts and remaining paste was applied to all the married women unmarried guys and girls who are at the age to get married.
Between all this fun and frolic mood my eyes halted on Soha di, she is the elder sister of Maan and the only daughter of the Malhotras and is married to Maanav Kapoor and has a sweetheart daughter named Subuhi, she is the best person to lift up your sadist mood to a jolly one obviously Soha di is high on energy every pico-second so her daughter got the same characteristics.
She was welcomed by everyone in my family she came and haldi to me, and I just gave a small smile, she immediately recognized it was fake as she is the only person in this world to know our HAL-E-DIL. Sigh. But in any ways she returned the same to me.
"Sohu Nannu ko leke uske room mein jaayein aap tab tak hum aapke dono k liye kch kadhi chawal bhejwate hai aapko pasand hai naa( Sohu take Nannu to her room, in the meanwhile I will send someone with kadhi chawal, u like it right).
Soha di smiled in replied and accompany me to the room. As soon as we entered she locked it and hugged and sobbed in her embrace, it is as soothing as it was, after sometime there was this knock on the door and she opened and took the food inside and again locked the door, in the meanwhile I showered and came back till the time she has arranged the food on the floor, for old time sake, and a tear slipped.
S- bas meri jaana aur kitna raogi (shut it, how much more will you cry) I nodded in agreement, and sat beside her to eat.
N- WO nai aayenge humse Milne (won't he come to meet me), I asked with hope in my eyes and she sighed.
S- nahi, packing krni hai use aur uske kisi dost ki shaadi hai toh paanch cheh din wahi rahega ( nope, he has to do packing and one of his friend is getting married, so he will stay with him for five to six days).
As she completed her sentence a I my eyes shot up towards her in shock.
N- is he more important to him than me. I completed the sentence almost choking at the end.
S- may be
N- I am getting married on the seventh day from today, tell him to come and meet me once for the old time sake.
S- he won't come and you know that.
N- please
S- sorry baby, it was both of your mutual call and to tell your parents about your feelings, let alone your parents you didn't allow to confess him.
N- am sorry di.
And I broke down in incoherent tears and at the same time the door flung open and Maa and my aunt entered.
M- what's the matter my child.
N- mumma, I will die, please stop me, I don't want to get married, chachi please.
A tear slipped from my maa and chachi eyes.
M- oh! Meri jaan aisa nai kehte (oh! Dear you should not speak like this).
C- hmm, sirf shaadi ho rahi hai aapki meri bacchi aur kch nai, humse rishta nai toot raha (hmm, you are only getting married my child and nothing else, we are not breaking our ties).
But my hysterical sobs weren't stopping and my grandfather entered the room with eyes full of tears.
N- babaa
I hugged him with all my strength not ready to leave him at any cost.
B- naa mera sher bachha hai naa tu nai royega ab ( no you aren't crying anymore, you are my lioness, right my child).
N- hmm.
Controlling my sobs I hmmed, but how am I supposed to tell them what is the reason behind my sobs.
After calming me down everyone left, leaving me alone and I dipped my face in the pillow, laying on my stomach, pulling the duvet above my head and cried my heart content but my tears tried and my heart is not at peace and I feel my eye lids heavy and head being banged with hamer. With all this I slipped into a deep slumber.
Few hours later-
The clock hit seven thirty in the evening, when I woke up with my sleep, after getting up from the bed I headed towards the bathroom to get freshen up and came downstairs, all my family members were present their except my uncle, grandfather and my papa.
But soon they enter with pani puri packet and my eyes start twinkling with happiness, ahh! My family.
B- I know whenever you feel low you need extra khatta (sour) gol-gappa.
I nodded excitedly, and they smiled.
At the time of my dinner my grandfather fed me from his own hands like old times and a tear of joy slipped from my eyes.
After finishing up our dinner, I called my father outside for some talk and he nodded and came with me to the terrace.
P- hmm bolo, kya bolna tha (hmm, tell me what you wanted to tell.
I took a deep breath and told-
N- Papa, agar aapko kabhie pata chale ki hmnei aapse kch chupaya hai toh please use dhoka mat samajhna qki hmnei sirf aapko isiliye nai bataya qki hum aapko dhukhi nai karna chahte the (Papa, if you ever find out something that I have hidden something from you, please don't think that I betrayed you, its just that I never wanted to hurt you).
As I complete, a tear slipped from my eyes and I lifted my eyes to see some unknown emotions is emerging in my father eyes, and he just planted a forehead kiss and I was shocked because its the first time he kissed me as far as I remembered.
But it was any way soothing.
