chapter twenty three - ❝i was sleeping and you woke me up. that's a sin.❞

melissa woke up to the sound of deliah's alarm. she whined in her sleep. lazily, deliah turned over and turned it off. "sorry mel. i forgot it was a sunday today."

just when melissa was about to go into a deep sleep again, her phone began ringing. she growled in her sleep again and grabbed her phone. it was from an unknown number. she let it ring without answering it. soon after that, a text came in saying: it's me jordan.

❝deliah! did you give jordan my number?!❞

"maybe..."

❝why?! you know i haven't paid my bill, right?❞

"he wanted it. you don't need to pay a bill when someone else calls, you know."

melissa threw away her blanket and locked herself into the bathroom where she called jordan.

❝good morning princess. how are you today?❞

❝i was sleeping and you woke me up. that's a sin.❞

❝it's sunday. i'll go to church then.❞

❝are you gonna keep calling me now?❞

❝whenever i miss you, yes.❞

❝that's going to be very annoying.❞

❝you aren't ready to marry me. you're the one choosing the rough way out.❞

❝i'll block you.❞

❝i'll find another way to come to you.❞

❝you sound creepy sometimes. you make me scared.❞

❝you make me scared too. i'm scared you'll marry that tom.❞

❝none of your business.❞

❝it is my business. i told you, you're mine. nobody can have you but me. and anyway, i've asked you to marry me first so...i must get first preference.❞

❝it doesn't work like that.❞

❝it works for me. and i don't like tom. he's too mean and annoying. he won't--cannot treat you the way i can.❞
