chapter twenty four - ❝i love you.❞

❝happy birthday jordan!❞

melissa showed up right outside his door wearing a pink top and a frilly black skirt. she had curled her hair a bit and put on a little make up. in her hand she held a cake with a bag hanging from her wrist.

❝thank you so much, mel!❞

jordan couldn't have been happier to see her. he was on cloud nine. he allowed her to enter where she placed the cake on the table and handed him the gift.

❝i baked you a cake.❞

❝are you sure you haven't put poison in it?❞

❝i was tempted to do so. but then i was like, mehh...let him live another year.❞

❝you threw away a golden opportunity. anyway, what's the gift?❞

❝not a surprising thing. i didn't know what you'd like so i just bought you a watch.❞

❝wow, thanks. but what's surprising is that you came.❞

❝i cancelled my date with tom for you, be happy.❞

❝now i'm more than happy.❞

jordan and melissa sat on the couch where jordan got ready to cut the chocolate cake. as he blew the candles and cut the cake, melissa sang for him 'happy birthday' and they fed each other cake.

❝did you make a wish?❞

❝of course, i did.❞

❝but you're not supposed to tell, alright?❞

❝the wish is such that unless i don't tell, it won't come true.❞

❝what kind of wish is that?❞

❝i wish you'd kiss me right now.❞

boom boom boom. that's how melissa's heart began beating. both of them looked into each other's eyes. both pleading for something different. but something inside melissa forced her to nod. she thought that maybe tonight some sort of miracle would happen. maybe if she gave him what he wanted, he'd be satisfied.

so melissa leant in a little and jordan followed. both of them felt each other's breath and lips touching. and gently, their lips caught each other and locked themselves. melissa held jordan's neck to pull him closer while he rested his palm on her thigh. they kissed without stopping. jordan could go on but melissa had to catch her breath soon.

❝happy?❞

❝say you love me.❞

❝i love you.❞

as a friend, jordan. as a friend, melissa said in her mind.
