10:42 am

Hey!😁

Hey☺️what's up?

I just thought we could go grab some lunch or something, now that January is at school?

Yeah sounds good. Where and when?

Millie's cookies, at 11:15?

Ok see ya there!

I smile. I've been taking January out for the past few weeks, and we've grown very close. Yet, her dad still seems mysterious to me.

"Hey," he smiles when he seems me. He's wearing a checkered shirt with a smart blazer jacket on top. A man who can dress.

"You look nice," I tell him.
"It's meant to be the boy that compliments the girl, normally. But I'm guessing you ain't just a 'normal girl' are you?" He chuckled, his side dimple appearing.

"What school did you go to?" I change the subject. "Bishop Milner, what about you?"

"Ah, I went Castle High," he shakes his head at my response. They were our rival.

"Shame you didn't come to my school, all of this would be avoided," he stared at the ground.
"What do you mean?" I raise my eyebrow at him.
"You're so beautiful and pure. You lost you're fiancée, so you kept your distance, hiding your good character, you need to stop hiding from the world and let people in,"
"You don't even know me," I scoff.

"Look Laila, why do you think I wanted to go with Sinead? All she did was talk about you, or I'd hear her phone calls with you. She'd tell her parents at dinner, how a boy broke his leg, and you carried his books for him. Or her favourite story to tell, how you became friends. She was being bullied, so you screamed at the girl and the bully never went near you two again."

"Aw my bestfriend is so sweet!" I squeal, but the look on his face tells me that wasn't the right reaction to what he just told me.

"She's a right pain in the arse too!" He chuckled.

We talked for a while, about out childhood. I can't help but think, he's right. If we met before, maybe everything would be different.

"Well I need to go get January but, I think we should do this, every Tuesday? What do you think?" He says holding the door for me.

"Great. I need to get out the house more anyway." I nod.

"Cool see you!" He says, lit up like a child. He leans in, hesitantly, before kissing my cheek.
Before I can say anything, he's gone.

I guess we'll carry this on next Tuesday. I smirk in my mind.
