I wasn’t sure what to do now. I sighed in the awkward silence. The jostling of the carriage was giving me a headache. My head rolled back on the seat and I closed my eyes. That’s when I heard a slight snicker. I looked across seeing Sebastian, still with that wicked smile.

“What?” I said glaring at Sebastian.

“Oh, nothing.” He said feigning innocence. “Don’t worry about me. I can’t help it if you do that and I attack you.” I put my hand to the side of my throat and couldn’t help imagining what if would feel like to have sharp fangs pressed against the skin. I shuddered and I heard Sebastian chuckle. I glared at him once more.

“Well I’m sorry if I’m having a hard time dealing with this. It’s not everyday I get kidnapped by some psychotic…” I stumbled.

“Vampires?” Sebastian said still laughing. “I know it’s hard to believe but you’ll get used to it.” He said his face softening slightly. I rolled my eyes.

“I don’t even want to think about it so can we be quite or talk about something else?” Sebastian looked uncertain. I know it wasn’t the nicest thing to say but I missed my family and was really scared about what was going to happen next.

“Hey, I understand. I know it’s hard to deal with at first. But, like I said, you’ll get used to it.”  He said leaning forward and looking me in the eye. I couldn’t help but get lost in the depths of those green eyes again. He chuckled, breaking me from my trance. “That was cute.” I felt my face heat up.

     “What?” I said defensively.

“Oh, nothing for you to worry about. It’s just funny to watch you stare at me. I know it’s hard to resist.” I almost slapped him.

“What, impertinence!” I said, angrily. “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that obsessed with their looks. Is your room covered in mirrors so you can look at yourself from every angle? Oh, wait that’s right. You don’t have a reflection. That must be terribly disappointing.” I said with as much sarcasm as I could muster. Sebastian seemed to find that incredibly funny and was rolling on the seat with laughter.

“I- ahh-I’m sorry.” He said in between laughs. “I guess I deserved that but I was never told that much even by my mother.” He said still laughing.

I couldn’t help but crack a small smile. He looked at me with his cocky grin. “Guess you even you can’t keep a straight face, princess!” He said. Princess?

“What with that? Princess?” I asked. He frowned slightly.

“Nothing, you don’t like being called ‘Princess’. Fine I’ll stop.” He said sobering down and staring at me with a straight face.

I ignored him. “You know, I don’t think we have properly introduced ourselves. We didn’t have time while you threatened me with that dagger.” I said coldly. He looked down slightly ashamed and I immediately felt guilty for bringing that up again. “You go first.” I told him trying to sound nicer. I think he liked that better for he pulled himself up and said,

“I am Sebastian Nightrose. I am over a hundred years old and I hate being told what to do. Is that enough for you?” he said grinning. “Now it’s your turn.” I sighed not wanting to say too much about myself but knew I had to because this had been my idea after all.

“My name is Christine Dracul,” I paused when I saw a frown crease Sebastian’s forehead. “What, what’s wrong.” He looked up at me startled. He just shook his head and waved his hand urging me to continue. “Fine. I am fifteen years old and…” I stopped not sure what else to say. I felt the tears ready to come but willed myself not to cry. But I couldn’t hold back a few drops. Sebastian looked at me.

“Hey what’s wrong? I’m not that bad, am I?” He asked smiling. I couldn’t help but grin a little myself.

“It’s nothing. I’m fine. Like I said, this is just hard.” I put my head in my hands taking deep breaths. That’s when I felt Sebastian come and sit beside me. He put his arms around me and I couldn’t help but turn into him and let the tears flow. At least I wasn’t yelling at him anymore.

He stroked my back tell me everything was going to be just fine and that he was here and not to worry about it. I just nodded my head and soaked his shirt.
