“What are you doing here?” The voice hissed. I immediately recognized Vladimir. He turned me around to face him and removed his hand. He glared at me.

“I might ask you the same thing.” I hissed back, narrowing my eyes. He looked shocked for a second, but his glare returned.

“It is nothing for you to worry about. Now leave, go back to your room. And take him with you.” He growled grabbing Sebastian by his collar and yanking him forward. I felt frozen to the spot, still slightly suspicious. “Go! NOW!” he roared. Sebastian grabbed my arm and we stumbled backwards, trying to escape Vladimir’s rage.

We rushed up the stairs. As we reached the hall I stumbled forward and caught my breath. Something was down there. I knew it. Why was Vladimir down there anyway? He was protecting something.

“There’s something down there. And whatever it is it isn’t good.” I told Sebastian. He nodded. But remained speechless. “We should probably go back to our rooms now.” I said shakily.

“Yes, we should. I’ll walk you to your room.” We walked back up the stairs and came to my room. I stepped in and Sebastian lingered in the doorway.

“Need something?” I asked, smiling. He shook his head as if he had been deep in thought.

“No, nothing. Just fine.” He cleared his throat and looked down at the floor. “Well…umm..good night.” He turned and walked down the hall.

“Sebastian!” He turned around to face me in the hall. “Uh…good night.” I said blushing. He laughed and turned away. He waved his hand and disappeared around the corner.

I went back into my room and flopped down on the bed feeling incredibly stupid. It didn’t matter. I was tired and stressed. I changed into my nightclothes quickly and lay down on the bed.

I was still plagued by questions. I wondered what was down there that Vladimir was protecting. It had to be important. But why would anything…or anyone be down there? This place seemed like it had been abandoned for years. I sank back into the pillows welcoming sleep where I was greeted by the woman again…

A dark shape crept through the shadows to the end of the corridor deep underground. A dagger flashed in his gloved hand. Something pounded on the other side of the wall. The man jumped but quickly composed himself.

“Do not worry, Master. Patience!” he hissed. He quickly removed his glove. He tensed and sliced the dagger quickly across his palm. He sucked in a sharp breath but painted a dark streak of blood across the wall. He closed his eyes and muttered a few words in an ancient language. A sharp grinding sound filled the silence of the night.

As the dust cleared, the man bowed low. Another figure stepped out of the shadows. He breathed in deeply.

“At last!” He whispered and his glowing eyes filled the darkness.
