a/n - the last xmas oneshot. not gonna lie, this one isnt that good since tbh I didnt really think of an idea for this ship ahead of time so I kinda just had to wing it. Its kinda forced.

"Brian?"

He gently pulled back the covers and nudged the younger man's shoulder in hopes of waking him. When that failed he resorted to flicking his face which did indeed earn only a grunt. He cleared his throat and nervously toyed with the small box in between his legs.

"Brian, wake up please."

He watched his boyfriend's eyes flutter open almost immediately as he sat himself up and faced Freddie's side of the bed.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing," the singer shook his head smiling at his groggy lover.

Brian yawned, "Tree time?"

"Not quite." He cautiously picked up the small present, "This is for you."

"Alright," he took the box from him and began to undo the ribbon.

Freddie grabbed his wrist,
"But first..." he thought it over for a second then let go of the confused yet compliant guitarist.

"Actually, open it as I speak."
His boyfriend proceeded with unwrapping the tiny package while waiting for him to say whatever wad so important.

"Bri, we both know I only have a few more years - "

"Freddie," he stopped removing the paper and placed his hand on the side of the older man's face, gently caressing his jaw. He was afraid to have another discussion similar to all the ones they've had already. It wasn't that he didn't want to be reminded because at this point the couple had accepted the truth but he didn't want to see the frontman break down into tears as has happened before. Not any day, but especially not Christmas.

Sensing where Brian misunderstood him he picked up the gift and finished unwrapping it. He revealed the dainty velvet box and placed it in his boyfriend's palm.

"Just look inside."

The brunette flipped open the top and was nearly blinded by the bright light reflecting off the platinum ring. Across the band was a thin channel filled by several fine diamonds. It was elegant, a simple design but different enough to be special. He snapped his head up for an explanation.

"As I was saying it's only awhile longer that I'll be around therefore I get why you may not want to but I want to be able to call you my husband - "

"I want to," he may've answered a tad too eagerly.

"Let me ask the bloody question," Freddie snatched the box away earning a whine from the other man.

"Sorry, proceed."

"I know its not in the eyes of the law but honestly I don't give a shit anymore," he slid the piece of jewelry out and grabbed the guitarist's hand, "Will you, Brian, marry me?"

"Yes."

"Marvelous," he chuckled and slid the ring on before giving him a quick peck on the lips and hopping off the mattress.

"Thank you, Freddiekins," Brian fidgeted with the new accessory as he too got up.

"Come on, it's tree time now," the vocalist chuckled and grabbed his partners hand as they headed out the bedroom.

"I don't think any of those gifts could top this one."
