Take the Ice

Chapter 7

Kayde got into the rental car and waited to feel the car start moving. She felt the car start to move “Amalia?” Amalia squeezed her hand in response. “I…...uh…..please don't tell Victor. He's so happy with Yuuri and I don't want to ruin it.

I'm 18 in like 2 years so I can deal with my health problems on my own. Okay?” Amalia pulls her close and hugs her tight “If that's what you want…….i'll do anything to make you happy.”

When they got to the doctor’s office they filled out some forms and waited to be seen. After a few minutes the doctor walks out “Kayde Allen?” Kayde stood, Amalia stood with her, the doctor raises a hand “Miss, are you family?” Amalia smiles “Uh no but she can't walk without me.”

When they got into the room they all sat down. The doctor pulled out a clip board. “Have you had any previous injuries?” Kayde takes a deep breath in “Yeah. I was in a car accident and was almost paralyzed.” The doctor frowned “That sounds serious.”

He checked if her nerves were functioning correctly and checked her eyes for scratches or any damage. At the end he typed a few things into his computer and handed them a prescription.

“I have prescribed some higher level painkillers that should help with your legs but unfortunately we can't do anything about you eyes. It should fade within the next few hours.” Kayde thanked him, than her and Amalia left.

The picked up her proscription on the way home and waited till her eyesight got better. Since she became a professional skater she had been having Yakov and Lilah coach her. They had asked her to keep them informed about her injuries.

Kayde texted them, once her eyesight returned, ‘I don't know how long I'm going to be here and i would love it if you came to help me practice for my next competition.’ She sent this to both of them then looked up and smiled. Victor had just walked in with Yuri and they were talking excitedly.

Yakov and Lilah both answered with ‘I'll be there soon.’ Victor sees them, pulls Yuuri over to the table, and they both sit down. Victor smiles “What do you have planed today? Kayde shrugs “Maybe shopping. Amalia has very good taste in clothes for me.” Victor bounces a little and puts a hand on Yuuri’s arm “Can we go to?”

Yuuri smiles at his excitement and nods “Yes we can go.” Kayde smiles and grabs her bag standing up. She pulls Amalia up by the hand and leads her to the door “Come on I'm excited. I texted Jocelyn to meet us at the shopping center.” Amalia smiles “If it makes you happy.”

*Time skip*

The arrive at the shopping center. Kayde tries to stand from her her wheelchair but Amalia puts a hand on her shoulder to keep her sitting “Kayde you need to stay seated.” Kayde frowns “But I don't want to.”

Amalia takes Kayde’s hand in hers and squeezes it. “Just stay sitting.” Kayde squeezes Amalia’s hand back “Okay.” Jocelyn finds them and smiles “There you guys are. I've been looking for you guys everywhere.”

Jocelyn hugs them both than stands up quickly “Come on you have to check out all these stores.” Kayde, Jocelyn, and Amalia check out some of the stores. Amalia splits of and goes to get a dessert.

Jocelyn smiles “It's just like the old days. You to as close as ever.” Kayde blushes “She's been with me through everything. We are family.” Jocelyn smiles “If that's what you think. We I'm leaving tomorrow back to L.A.” Kayde’s smile falters “Why?”

Jocelyn straightens her bag “I found you guys now I have to go run my business in the States.” Kayde hugs her. Jocelyn smiles “Well I should go I have to pack and Alex is waiting for me.” Jocelyn looks around “Tell Amalia i said Bye.”

She leaves and leaves Kayde to rome the shops. Amalia finds her and puts a piece of mochi in her mouth “You have to try this. It's amazing. Where’s Jocelyn?” Kayde swallows “It is amazing and she left to get ready to go back to the States.”

Amalia and Kayde shop a little more and Kayde buys presents for her friends back home and a few surprises for Victor, Yuuri, Amalia, and a couple other people. Kayde zones out for a little.
