(as Nicola Ryder)I woke up lying on the same couch still cuddling with my best friend, Darcy. On seeing her fast asleep, a mischievous thought came into my mind of getting out of the place without notifying her, leaving her confused while still groggy from her sleep.
I raised myself from the couch as quietly as possible, not daring to deprive my friend of the quality slumber that she loves more than she loves me.
I grabbed the empty pizza boxes from the couch and walked over to the kitchen, where I dumped them into the trashcan. The various other articles which were already dumped into the trashcan clashed against the pizza boxes, causing an irritating sound which replaced my sleepiness into crankiness.
'Why not?' I answer my own thought of throwing the trash into the garbage bin outside.
Using all the power my delicate body could provide, I lifted up the trashbag and made my way towards the front door. The sound of plastic against marble resonated as I dragged the trashbag across the stone pathway, towards the empty garbage bins waiting to be filled.
I dumped the trash into the bin with a slight moan of effort. Having my job done, I stared at the pleasing morning of the beginning of Spring which came with the joyful singing of birds. Being in another neighbourhood, you could say anything, do anything, even be anything without the fear of being judged, because ultimately you are a stranger to them as they are strangers to you.
In the colourful shades of the houses and the bright green lawns, something black caught my eye. At the end of the Main Street, at the corner of the last house of the neighbourhood, stood a boy about my age. He had a lean, muscular frame and sparkling blue eyes staring at.. me.
I almost fell to the ground in shock. That black shirt, those baggy jeans and the unforgettable camouflage jacket, it was the stalker himself. With an air of graveness I realised that I had led the stalker straight to the home of my best friend, the only place where I really felt safe.
I started to lose my mind. I clenched my fists so hard the fingernails bit into my palm. My jaw tightened to the extent of shattering my teeth. With a deep breath I started walking towards the stalker. The walk slowly turned to a jog, and then with a roar of anger I started running, running towards the problem that I had to face every other day without any chance of escaping.
I was within thirty feet of him now. For the first time I could see him clearly. He had a chiseled face with high cheekbones, not so manly, but attractive all the same. His short but unkept blonde hair fell on his face. His sparking blue eyes made me want to stop entirely and just stare at them, but I wasn't foolish enough to do so.
The dimple in his chin started to become dominant, as if watching me run like this was amusing him, which enraged me further. A glint of black and grey in his hand - which he had drawn into his jacket, made me tear apart my gaze from his eyes, only to make me stop abruptly in my tracks and stumble to the ground, only few a feet away from him.
He had a gun. A real, freaking, gun. He held it in his right hand like it was a common thing for him to hold a gun in front of people's faces.
"Is- is that real?" I manage to stutter.
"Do you really want to know?" He counter questioned me.
"No." I realised.
"Of course you don't. Now, sweetheart, you've got to do exactly what I say. Understand?" He asked.
